If anyone has been disappointing in the first half I would say it was Gerrard. We need more than hard work from Kuyt, and Arbeloa has had a bad game so far.

As I have said before, we always struggle against teams that switch the play quickly, today being no exception.

Chelsea beat them 3-1 without their best striker drogba . Wigan beat them with a team which cost a quarter of our's .

You could probably make this argument apply to at least two teams every week. If it was this simple the league wouldn't be as good as it is

Benitz is just too smart for day to day matchups..we should wake him up at finals only.

We have not been defensive. We had 75% of the ball for the first 10 minutes and were dominating.

City didnt look dangerous until they scored.

Guys lay off Toffee - he's been contributing to every match thread and has every reason to be very, very upset with the formation that Rafa has put out today.

If he can't vent his frustration with us fans, who can he do that with?

Rafa has demonstrated with the lineup that he is worried about City's offense. Well, we have an offense that has just begun to click and I do believe Rafa should have had more faith in it.

Just to add: I'm sure Rafa hoped that Masch and Alonso would break up the City midfield play. But it was at the expense of an attacking threat. Mark Hughes is no mug of a manager. He would know that our main threat is Torres, and would have loved it to realise it would be Torres upfront alone without Keane to worry about.
