Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Pongolle hasn't played in the last 9 senior games, I'd be very surprised that he would be played when he's not in form.

Today is quite a big day if im being honest for liverpool, we have won 4 of are last 5 and not concided a goal, But today marks a tougher challange an away game against Man City after a big European game, 3 points today and the self belef should run right through the squad.

Last season was dismal to say the least and although a draw would mark an improvement, a win might see us taken a little bit more seriously.

Im not gonna make a prediction, i want 3 points and that is it.

COME ON YOU RED MEN

Hmmm, I find that one quite balanced. Bit surprised that Zenden doesn't make it even to the bench, after a good match. I'd drop Kewell.

no defenders on the bench?

i'm also worried about our lack of creativity in midfield.

I think hes picked Hamman to break they're play up! They played some real nice quick passing stuff lately!
That team makes sense to me.
Cant see a goalfest though!
2-1 the POOL!

This line up will make a lot of difference as to whether Gerrard is playing on the right or in the middle behind Crouch. Have a feeling that Rafa's playing Crouch as the sole striker up front target man style with Gerrard supporting from deep. Cisse should be occupying the right flank.

With Gerrard in the middle and hamman and sissoko covering the back 4, the defence look solid. But think it may be another frustrating night going forward. Crouch has most probably been instructed to hold the ball up and play in Cisse, Risse or Gerrard on the attack. Don't think we'll offer much in attack but then again, this is the kind of game that requires such a line up, and this is the type of game Rafa paid 7mil for (i.e Crouch)

Hope to see Kewell, Morientes and Garcia somewhere in the match. Will be a tight game, wont be surprised that it may end up 0-0 or 1-0 to either side.

This is the exact kind of game for Crouch to score the solitary match winning goal.

Go Liverpool!  :buttrock

No defenders on the bench is not much of a problem unless injury comes up. 80% of subsitutions are to bring attacking players into the game anyway. If need be, we have versatile enough players like Risse who can switch back to LB from midfield. 2 defensive midfielders in hamman and momo shd also provide ample cover in the middle.

But you're rigth abt the lack of creativity in midfield. Thats why i think Gerrard will be in midfield just behind Crouch with Cisse on the right. Cant really see more than 1 or at most 2 goals in this game.

Indeed it's frustrating. For our opponents, to play against a rock solid team, and then they get the 0-1 because we are a big team. And we get the 3 points, and back to Liverpool. Give me the points, and call me stupid, we say around here :)

Come on Liverpooool!
