Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Can't believe no-one has created this yet...... Just 2 more days for this match.

Need a win here....don't care if we do it derby or eversh1t style....any win will do.

I think this would be our strongest line-up possible taking into consideration our injuries.

Kewell, Gerrard and Benayoun to interchange and create havoc. We should be able to win.

                  Reina
     Finnan   Carra   Hyppia   Arbeloa
    Gerrard   Mash   Lucas   Benayoun
            Kewell
                           Crouch

But i am pretty sure rafa will start with voronin or kuyt....

looks a good lineup that. just wish we had played like that from the start yesterday (though i'm assuming kewell wasn't fit enough for 90 minutes). hopefully we'll put at least 2 or 3 past them and start playing with some confidence again, though it looks a long shot atm  :( .

One time, I saw a man looking at me, yes, with his eyes. And then, he, he picked up a tube. And he looked, in the tube, and he made the moon big, inside the tube. The moon big inside a tube! Waahaha... Aaah. Telescope.

There are no doubts in my mind that following the Blackburn display and Rafa's following comments we WILL see Kuyt start. We saw the same with Crouch when he first arrived and was struggling to find the back of the net.

That being a given here is what I expect Rafa to go with AND NOT WHAT I'D LIKE!

                Reina

Finnan   Carra  Sami   Riise

Grrard  Mascha  Momo Benni

            Kuyt   Voronin

I hope to god I'm proven wrong but given Rafa's stubbornness and inexplicable refusal to play Crouch or even try Babbel up front then I can't see the front line at least being any different to that above.

This does sound very negative on my part but given recent performances and team selections I feel I'm justified.

However that were the negativity ends, I do feel that even with a blunt forward line we should still have enough to beat Besiktas. Whether or not it's comfortably or with a 90th minute deflection off of somebodies arse I don't care as long as we see a performance from the team.

Normal backline except Aurelio instead of Riise.

Benayoun Lucas Mascherano Kewell

                Gerrard
                       Crouch

In my opinion our best line up considering everything that is happening at the minute.

Rest Kuyt and stick him in the reserves or something, the guy must be near suicide with recent form.

Also wouldnt mind seeing a bit more of Babel in the link up role, given the right personel around him he could be quite something in that position.

If we do anything but attack, attack, attack in this match, I would be very surprised.

It's all or nothing, so we should throw absolutely everything at them. If they are smart, they will park the bus in front of goal and try to catch us on the counter attack.

But I want to see attack after attack.

Despite the fact that I am in full agreement that Kuyt has been :censored: lately, I feel that we should actually start him.

I think that he has been getting so many chances, both in position to put in a goal or in a position to lay it off to another player for a goal and he has been very wasteful. But, with all those chances something has to give. He must be able to get a bit of luck and have one go in to get the confidence going. And I think that once this confidence gets going we will see Kuyt hitting the back of the net more often, and taking advantage of the many opportunities that he has been getting.

Agreed. You just do not become a bad player overnight, and last season up front with Crouch on occasions they looked a decent partnership.

I defy anyone who thought that Kuyt would ever be a 25 goal plus a season man when he signed - but he runs his balls off every game for the team and deserves a break.

A win by two clear goals is my prediction.

The cure for players who are getting a lot of chances yet struggling to finish is to play it out

To win this group, we basically need to win every match and hope the other fixtures not involving us end in draws.

Can we really afford to wait another 3/4 games for Kuyt to "play it out"? and even if we do is there any guarantee he'll start scoring/ effectively linking play when he's played a few more games? Meanwhile Crouch, whose probably best suited to the Wimbledon style football we're being forced to play at the moment, gets 11 minutes per game. I don't understand it!
