Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

i think we would all like him to get on score sheet in league and think he will soon , just needs to get the monkey of his back like keane did last night , but while he is still contributing he is still earning his place in the team , he will prob play against man city to help nullify the threat of elano from their left .

Fact : Kuyt misplaced some passes last night, run around giving 145% and scored a goal
Fact : Gerrard misplaced some passes last night, run around giving 145% and scored a goal

aCe' - Based on last nights game why dont you pick on Stevie?

i thought Kuyt played well. he was instrumental in Keane's goal. if not for his determination to keeep the ball, he wouldnt have been able to pass it to Torrestron who with one touch got pass the def and crossed it into the net.

Lads I went last night and I´ll tell you Kuyt played his rocks off. One aspect of this is that he dominates that right/forward side of midfield forcing the opposition to come in to the central zone and/or go left side. He cramps the oppositions options. So its not just what he does on the ball its the effect he has off it too.

When Yossi came on2 things stood out, 1. With Kuyt dominating the right side and Yossi holding off, PSV were encouraged to come down the left side. 2. The imbalance of activity between left and right and the two styles struggle to gel in the same team.

Personally I thought Yossi was a waste of time last night and made no contribution.

Kuyt for me was MOTM.  (and I havent got involved in this Kuyt debate as you know)

Lee are you serious here? having heard about the "unseen" work of Alonso for years, can the work which Gerrard has done over the last two games really be invisible? I heard some people calling him after the Everton game, and it was the most complete performance he has given as a central midfielder for many a year.

This time around, the game was won after half an hour so he just cruised through, bossed it and smashed in a 30 yard free kick at the end. How on earth though people can say he was poor last night (and your by no means the only one) is a total mystery to me. I don't know what else to say really.

i think what we have here is the old 'support the underdog' syndrome.

i think people are taking both sides to the extremes. lets make no mistake kuyt is to football what penquins are to flying, thats my opinion and it may be over the top, but then we get people defending kuyt and also going over the top, someone likened him to dalglish on here ffs   :D

lets just meet the middle ground, kuyt is a slightly below average footballer with lots of energy who is a squad player at best for us but would shine at somewhere like bolton

Dont agree Peewee.

If you have to have a compromise it has to be that Rafa DOES know what he´s doing more than members of this forum so therefore:

"Kuyt is an above average footballer with lots of energy, a first team player who would shine at just about whatever club he played".

Thats reflects reality a bit better.  :talktothehand

Do you know what it makes me sick the way Kuyt gets no credit at all .Ok hes no world beater but weve had loads average players in the red shirt over the years an some of them have gone down a :censored: heros in our folk law but all Kuyt gets is stick. Hes doing his job at the mo setting people up and scoring the odd goal he works his :censored: off for the team.

I just wish now an again the lad gets the credit he derseves. An dont say it was a flucky goal he made the space for himself to put the ball in the net. And he held off 3 defenders to set the ball nicely up for Torres to put the cross in for Keane. Give the lad some credit
