what about this? maybe we can put benny to the left in place of riera with gerrard moving to the centre and kuyt coming in...but is kuyt needed in a game like this?

yes kuyt is needed in a game like this with his goal return - also reira to add width . Only change from last week i would like is agger in for skittles

And Insua in for Aurelio, he gives us a much better attacking edge and I think he's a better defender as well. Aurelio was fecking awful last week so why risk him again. Also I don't want to see Lucas anywhere near the pitch tonight, that useless pr1ck will be sure to :censored: things up for us in one way or another.

I really can't call the result, it will either be bloody thrilling with us winning it outright or going through on penalties or another asswhooping from Chelsea. The first 10 minutes will be absolutely crucial, we have to score early and really tear into them.

Insua isn't in the CL-squaq

I hope Barcelona teach these Chelscums a lesson in the semis. Essien may have kept us quite by keeping Gerrard in his pocket but he won't and certainly can't stop a fire brigade - Messie, Henry, Eto and Xavi.

We dont need to be worrying about getting 3 goals tonight.

Just get to half time one goal up, then it's game on for the 2nd half.

Cant wait to see the team and formation that Rafa is going to use. Mr cautious is going to have to go for it so it will be interesting to see what way we are going to approach the game

Make no mistake, the task ahead is nearly impossible, in the context of a two legged tie.  Yes we beat Manure 1-4, but that was a one off league game.  Chelsea will happily lose by the odd goal tonight.

Having said that, I think they will be suffering from the "stick or twist" mentality which I think was our un-doing after scoring so early in the first leg.

As soon as we scored we didn't know whether to push on or defend what we had.  The result was a drubbing, and us looking like a pub team at the back.

Chelsea can't be sure what to do...they know we will throw the kitchen sink at them, so what do they do?

1.  try to ride out the first 20 minutes
2.  Come at us looking to put the tie beyond us

My guess would be the first option.  If we do get a goal (or two) then it is very hard to turn a defensive mentality into an attacking one mid game.

I would play

                    Reina

Arbeloa     Carra     Sami     Aurelio

Kuyt       Alonso    Masch   Riera

                  Gerrard
                      Torres

Aurelio was shocking in the 1st leg, but the alternative is Dossena, so there is no alternative.

We need Riera to perform tonight.  He's been poor recently, and we need a big game from him tonight.

Sami is in there to add to our attacking options at set pieces but also to stop any more nonsense from corners.

I really hope we pull this off, but my head says we may just come up short.  We conceded one goal too many in the 1st leg, but strangely at 1-2 rafa may not have approached tonight as he surely must.....needing 3 goals, and having tactics to go for it.

Masch will be a big improvement in midfield, where we lost the 1st leg, and we need to let gerrard go wherever he likes to drag Essien out of the game if he fixes himself to gerrard's ar$e again.

This is why we need Riera and Kuyt to step up, use the space created, and cause the makeshift chelsea back four problems.

If we are a goal or two short with 10 to go, then Sami goes up front and we start launching.

Strangely, tonight is a pressure free game for our players (and fans) as we are already out (so everyone believes) and this puts all the pressure onto Chelsea.  Hopefully they won't cope very well.

Fabio was fairly ropey earlier in the season as well if memory serves, I just don't like him as a player, maybe I just don't like Brazilians in the Liverpool team, of course that would change instantly if we ever bought Kaka.  :D

  the "midfield" being the region just in front of our goal when corners are taken?

cant remember Fabio being ropey at all - he has had problems with his injuries and when he first arrived he wasnt the greatest but since he got settled he has been solid at least in every game
