Chelsea(3) v liverpool(1) - 2nd leg - Tuesday - 7.45pm - the comeback?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Effes » Sat Apr 11, 2009 10:00 pm

The thread from the first leg is still getting posts about the 2nd leg, so thought I'd open this.

We weren't waiting for Bermenstein were we? Thought he just did league ones.

Anyhow, Terry out for this one.

May we go 4-4-2? It's a possibility no?

Yeah I was thinking play 4-4-2 as well. Play Stevie on the right and that stops Essien from trying to man mark him all game, or even play Yossi at RM. Kuyt would of course have to have his shooting boots on but in these CL games he always comes up trumps. We really need to make the most of no Terry.

As for defense I don't know if Skrtel was being rested today or Rafa just felt like bringing in Agger but I would go with Agger over Skrtel anyway. I thought he was great today bar the odd mistake no doubt from injury rustiness and scored a great goal. He always carries a goal threat and we need goals!

We can do this. I am sure as long as we start strong and get an early goal the momentum will carry us through.

im hoping they will miss terry the way we missed mascherano, i fancy us to win but by 3 goals im not sure
saying that you cant write this team out and if torres plays the form hes on he will score atleast one he always does against chelsea

i would definately play benyoun and babel instead of riera and kuyt and really go at them we have nothing to lose

my team:

                                                            riena

                                         arebola    carra    agger    auerillo

                                                     masch    alonso

                                         benyoun                           babel

                                                           gerrard

                                                            torres

Anything is possible in football. If Bolton can go there and score 3 then so can we. We scored 4 at Old Trafford a few weeks back.

The question is, can we keep them out at the other end? Drogba is rejuvinated.

Drogba is a handful indeed but I trust Carra and Agger to do the job. Like some have said I don't think scoring will be the problem but keeping out will be a challange. I think for such a big task we will have to have a bit of luck on our side too.

And them kunts wont play as well as they did again!

If we get an early goal(the first goal) its :censored: game on.
And Masch can play,he'll take Essien out and free up Stevie!

Id go with this
                                    Reina
              Arbeloa   Agger          Carra            Insua

              Kuyt       Alonso     Mascherano  Benyaoun

                                    Gerrard

                                     Torres

Biggest worry of course is cause we are gonna go for it from the off is getting caught on the break. They'll know we have to and that will be what they'll be working on all week in training!
We need everyone to play out of their skin and a bit of luck!

If we go 2 up they'll sh,it themselves and we'll go through!! :D

Everyone has to be at their best for this to happen. I don't mean to sound like a :censored: but I really do not want to see Lucas play at all if it can be helped.

Dont get this bit Baz.

If Essien is gonna man-mark Gerrard, there's not much Masch can do about it.

Just 1 minor change and an option up front.

---------Reina--------

Arbeloa  Carra Agger   Aurelio

Gerrard   Masch   Xabi    Benny

-----Kuyt/Babel     Torres------

Now this is CL game and Kuyt is one of Rafas most trusted players so he is going to start but later on Babel up front could be useful. Last year he done ok up front and scored a great goal. Definatley Yossi over Riera though.

Do you think Rafa will make any changes to the way we defend set pieces? I know Rafa likes to be proved right but we let in 2 goals last week from set pieces so something needs to be altered for this one.
