CHELSEA vs LIVERPOOL: 30/04/08 7.45pm - Champions League Semi Final - 2nd Leg

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

lets move the focus onto the TEAM and the MATCHES that we have coming up. Come on lads, this IS actually a BIG GAME. Don't be jaded by the fact that Rafa has made CL semi final victories over Chelsea commonplace, they are still a REALLLLY good side with more quality man for man than we do. New wrinkle this year in that we are at home first, which I didn't think was going to have much affect against Inter but could prove to be more important against Chelsea.  I think because there has been soooo much consistency in Rafa's sides in the formation, midfield, and attack that we have slept on Rafa's tweaks to the defense in BIG games. How do you want us to line up at the back against Chelsea in the 1st leg? is it a forgone conclusion that we will play 4-2-3-1? Is that really the best way to approach Chelsea at home, IF you take away the fact that the players have become familiar in this system?

can we get fulham over and done with before thinking of this or would that mean putting europe second?
1) You'll Never Walk Alone
2) pass and move is the Liverpool groove
3) FIRST WILL ALWAYS BE FIRST AND SECOND WILL ALWAYS BE NOTHING.
4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.

Not a lot of time to "build the match up" between saturday evening and Tuesday. Plus I would rather two discussions about the team and matches going on at the same time than all this Rafa's progress and takeover talk, that was SOOOO yesterday

I watched the Everton v Chelsea game last night and was less than impressed by either team.Considering if Chelsea lost they were out of the title, and if Everton lost they were(which they now are)out of the race for 4th!
A lot was at stake, but Chelsea looked monotone, passionless and uninspiring.
Carvalho and Terry looked solid but apart from that, nothing much flattered them.

I know we have are off field issues of late but Chelsea are not without their own.The thing is so far our players seem to remained unaffected, theres dont!
Drogba is apparently injured and Lampard has been given time off cause his mother in law is ill.Things just are'nt right at the bridge.

Personally i feel if we can do them home and away this time. They were a lot more of a team under Mourinho than they are under Avram Grant.Their team spirit seems a shadow of what it used to be.

Anyway i feel we will have too much for them over the 2 legs and if we play the way we have been should do just fine. There was a lot more fight in Arsenal than Chelsea will have, its clear the players and fans are not happy with Grant!

As for the formation id stick with 4-2-3-1 home and away because it makes use of all our best players and its the shape from which our best football has come.It keeps the team both compact and dangerous at the same time. But also gets the best out of Gerrad and Torres in positions they revel in.

2-0 at home and 0-1 away.

And GBJH,shut yer piehole lad.:D
We can chat about the Chelsea game if we like before Fulham. The Fulham game is nothing compared to what will be a special night at Anfield.:p

Avram was just trying to copy Rafa, but it didn't go so well.

Don't agree with that.

I actually think Avram Grant has done a pretty good job sicne taking over from Mourinho, the real problem's at Chelsea lie with the owner and the number of alter-ego'd players they currently have on there books.

Just seen this on .tv, if anyone can help with the organisation, please read the article. While we are stricken by the turmoil at the club, it's fans like this that make our club what it is, not millions of £££££.
