What we need is a manager that can work with the great team we already have.

I look at what Harry's done with Spurs, a team that were fighting for their lives last year and who are now in with a shout for CL football and all with relatively the same team composition.

Benitez, on the other hand, has our top stars looking at the dugout, shaking their heads and going WTF?

The contrast is unbelievable.

Yeh and Tottenham would gladly swap places with us over the last five years. They've been fairly mediocre mate and thats a fact. Rafa has raised us to a higher level

I'd rather have rafa than Redknapp, easy

ditto

I'm not saying I'd have Harry at the club.

I'm saying that a good manager can work with a good team providing he uses the resources to best degree.

I don't believe Benitez is doing that with Liverpool at the moment.

Yet last year Rafa was at helm when we had team that did both ManU and Chelsea and put up a title challenge.

Im not happy with this season and Rafa definately has his faults as does all managers.

However some of this sentiment that has been oozing through this  forum for last couple of seasons you would think we have been struggling to avoid relegation

 When was the last time Spurs finished above Liverpool? Most of you lot wern't even alive !

So its hardly that Rafa has raised us to a higher level, more that Spurs have been so low for so long.

I do believe we have a much better team than spurs though. I can't think of one world class player in the Spurs team, I can think of at least 4 in ours. So I am pretty confident that we will finish above them next season.

Maybe we should try comparing ourselves to Wigan next    :D

Its ironic to put it mildly.

We've already got a top manager, so that is not the issue with his posts whatsoever. What we do need is a board who doesn't f*ck about and cut into the manager's transfer budget to drip feed the debt they put us in. If a manager makes a sale of a player and get's 2-300% profit on that player, then that profit should be used towards strengthening the squad, no excuses. Some are banging on about what a top prospect this club is for top managers, when we're spending like a mid-table side, if even, instead of one of the biggest clubs on the planet for the past several seasons.

- "Rafa, I've got the chairman of Valencia on the phone. He says he wants 30 mill up front for Villa now seeing that we are Liverpool FC and we are such a big club."

Rafa - "e's 'avin a laugh, no? Tell him to do one. We're skinto and I've only got 20 millions to spread around. Tell him he can 'ave Yossi Benayoun. He's got kwalitee, works very har' and can give more options, no?"

Yer and they made him spend £18-£20ml on an injured MF and £18ml on a RB, and also made him play Ngog as the back up to injury prone Torres and ordered him to play 2 defensive MF home and away.
Not to mention how hes not allowed to bring on any subs before 65mins

And we could go on and on about all the poor decision making both on and off the pitch hes obviously made to do by the board!

Do me a favour
Its Rafa who makes more fk ups than anyone and it is him who is completely responsible for the state of play this season.
I'm fully expecting to go to the game on monday and watching another lack lustre, negative and totally ineffective game. mind you I should be used to it by now!

I'm over the moon that the yanks are on their way and will be even happier if the new owners bring in a new man.
I can only see more of the same if Rafa stays.

emerald mate you wont hear any arguments from me regarding the oweners and what has gone on with the transfer budget this season.
But the top manager we have has still made a pigs ear of the season, we cant blame the owners for everything.
And what mick is saying is that even if we were stuck with these owners and a limited transfer budget we could still attract top managers.
You may disagree, thats fair enough, but thats why he is saying he is being the positive one.
