I agree Bob, but its still sad to see mate. As long as reasonably well balanced posters like yourself were still holding out for Rafa, it allowed me a faint hope that I was totally wrong and that he maybe just needed more time than I was willing to give him. Now you have come over to the darkside ......all such hope is gone

Don't worry, mate, I don't think Igor or Nan have lost faith yet. :D

In all seriousness, I've felt a change was needed for several months now (that is, a change at the end of the season, not mid-season).  I'm sure I said so at the time but have not really gotten involved in banging that drum because it's a depressing state of affairs when you lose faith in someone you previously backed.  But, the performances this year don't lie: we are a team that's drifting aimlessly at the moment and no amount of pointing fingers at the owners, or injuries, or the players can absolve the manager.  It's his job to get the team sorted out if they're struggling and, IMO, he's failing miserably this year.  But taking off the best striker in the world for--let's be honest--a young lad who is not fit to lace the Spaniard's boots (at least at this stage of his career) was too much.  For the first time on Sunday disappointment with Rafa switched to anger thanks to a totally unfathomable decision.  There have been precedents, of course, but at least with the subs at Reading you could always so we had a Champions League do or die in midweek followed by a trip to Old Trafford the following weekend.  What can be said this time to justify the unjustifiable?  A vital home clash with Benfica in the Europa League followed by Fulham at Anfield?  Do me a favour.  :no

i cant see Torres going this season.  Since he joined Liverpool, he has now got the reputation of best striker in the world.
He's scoring more goals than he ever had before.  He has missed large parts of this season and last season through injury.  i actually think we might have won the league last year had him and gerrard played together more often.

Surely he should focus on trying to keep fit for next season and if we are still sh.ite, at least we got 4 seasons out of him.

the europa league comp. is gonna be rafa's career saver. he'll do everything he can to win it. that way he claims he won another major trophey and if he's still booted at least he'll have it on his CV.

selfish bstd that rafa is. he is just looking out for himself now as he knows he'll be gone next season. why should he give a sh!te that liverpool dont qualify for champs.league? he wont be here. :(

i think he does still care about Liverpool but he just isnt the right guy anymore.  Im going to watch Barcelona and Arsenal tonight and pray a time comes when we can play football at the top level like Barca.  Attractive beautiful football that is.  The kind that Lucas can only dream of.

see thats where my views dont fit into this forum, I feel Rafa has always been about himself, trying to make himself look good overseas.

thats when he works harder on the CL than he has ever in the prem. he knows the CL inside out and thats what he is good at...........well untill this year.

agree with above.  We need a manager who knows how to win the premier league.  but who would that be?  Its mainly Ferguson, Wenger and Mourinho and a handful of others that have actually done it.

Anyone rate Rijkaard as a good manager?

Have heard Rijkaard's name bounded about quite a few times now. Doesn't excite me much tbh

Rafa has always prioritised Europe, whether he'll openly admit it or not. It's easier to win than the league so he'd be a fool not to go with that option, domestic cups are one-off ties (or replays but still a one-off you can't afford to lose).

Didn't someone a fair few months ago suggest if the league were decided on two-legged ties CL style that Rafa could win it.........................?

I said that's what I would do if I was one of them. They are professionals and he is a buffoon.

Give it a rest with the 'I told you so's' Marvin, you must have repeated the same thing fifty times in the last 2 months. It hardly confirms you as some sort of footballing oracle.

No! but it does suggest we know more about the game than the ones who couldn't spot this. He had a couple of good runs in the league (unfortunately, one just before his contract was up) but if you judge his league campaigns as a whole they've been terrible.

Actually we do have someone working in Liverpool with the experience of winning the Premier League...

If Rafa is here next year there is a very real chance Torres and Gerrard will leave this summer.

Man City is said to have put in a offer for him and in truth will pay anything to have him and they also have eyes on Gerrard.

if Rafa dont walk to his new job then it should be made clear to the two players Rafa will not be here next year so they stay. both are unhappy in the way the club is heading.

Is this conjecture or have you heard something mate ?

He does'nt need to 'hear' anything, just scratch his butt and pull up more rubbish!
Floyd stepped left and threw the hook that caught Hatton flush under the chin. Finally, the British champ had arrived in that mythical place of which his fans speak: Hatton Wonderland.
