Rafael Benitez, Liverpool According to Sky Sport Italia, a meeting has taken place between Juventus and the legal team of Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez in Milan, with the Bianconeri pushing for a deal that will see the Spaniard take over in Turin immediately.

Reports have been rife in the press all week that tonight's Coppa Italia game against Inter will be the last on the bench for coach Ciro Ferrara, who will then move upstairs into a director role.

A whole host of names have been linked as Ferrara's successor, including Giovanni Trapattoni, Guus Hiddink, Alberto Zaccheroni and Claudio Gentile. The latter duo were believed to be the favourites, with speculation that one would take over on a short term contract until the end of the season when a big name would be appointed on a permanent basis.

One of these big names was Rafa Benitez, who had emerged over the last few days as the favourite for the permanent position.

However, Sky Sport Italia are now claiming that a meeting has taken place in Milan between Juventus and the Benitez legal team, with the Old Lady hoping to entice the Spaniard to Turin immediately.

These reports have not been confirmed officially by either club, but there have been widespread reports today that Juventus president Jean-Claude Blanc flew to England to discuss this move.

More should become clear in the coming hours, but the fact that Benitez has a contract until 2014 and Liverpool are on the verge of economic collapse may mean that the Merseysiders will be happy to release the ex-Valencia man and not have to pay him compensation.

Notice in an interview today he didn't come out and say "I'm not going".

He more or less said "there was an approach but people talk too much" and that he wanted to focus on the Bolton game.

He didn't take the opportunity to dismiss the speculation.

i just heard on the news that he said he was flattered and that he was going nowhere.

Oh well 3 points lost  :D

Joking just joking

He also said in interview that we played well against Wolves

He didnte take that opportunity to admit we were hopeless

I think the timing of the approach has been perfect for Rafa and he's using it to his advantage. It's a reminder that he's still considered one of the best managers in the world, sought after by major European clubs.

He loves to tease like that doesn't he.  :D I really don't think he will leave us in mid season.

I heard people saying Lucas would be dropped for the game against Bolton. It does show he's willing/dare to change and not being rigid. If he can do that, there's hope in him.

Whatever happens in the summer we have to make sure we never see another season as dire as this one. That means something closer to an overhaul than just 'tinkering'.

*PRAYS*

Hes still in minus in terms of contribution

PLAYED 30, ASSISTS 1, GOALS 0... No passing range, OWN GOALS 1

With lucas having been at the heart of midfield in all 11 losses this season...we'd surely miss the maestro
Those 5 yard nothing passes are a weekly highlight.

Everytime the going becomes tough for benitez...he gives a call to his agent and bam...he is going to Real madrid (their fans will really gonna love the football played under benitez  :wwww ), inter, juventus......etc ....etc

But....looking at the bigger picture....the italian league will be perfect for Mr charismatic. Slow.....tactical play with each team more interested in neutralizing the other team.....

Snooze fest  :p

Rafa On stalemate with Wolves...

I was quite happy because it was a clean sheet.

And today we play Bolton. Should be interesting...

It is like that most of the time. Although Inter this season are playing some exciting football generally it is a snooze fest.
