I would sell kuyt and get van the man.....a much better option i reckon. :nod

He was superb last night, epitomised the work ethic that won us the game, took his goals well and got into postions to score more.

Proved that we don't necessarily need another back up striker. With Maxi hopefully getting to full fitness we should look to strengthen the wide area or in central midfield.

you cant rely on kuyt's consistancy....he has a habbit of hiding when it comes to converting goal chances (and creating them?)......we do need another striker if only to keep them all on their toes. :nod

I wouldn't. Kuyt is younger, can cover more positions and is also able to operate/work outside the box. I would however take him as a backup for Torres, just not as a replacement for Kuyt.

I don't think the dutch league is any good and thought he was out of his depth when I saw him in the world cup. Was gutted when LFC paid £10m for him and said so here at the time. I think Rafa was had.

I'd sell him for £5m if we got such an offer.

Seems like a nice bloke, tries hard, but nowhere near good enough.

I was gutted when we signed him as spurs were getting berbatov for around the same price and our name was mentioned a few times in the media with berbatov.  I knew about berbatov at leverkuson and was convinced he would be a superstar at spurs.  Granted I did feel Kuyt would be better than he has been I always thought we got the inferior player.  Funny how in the summer when many were questioning the abilities of kuyt some tried to justify his signing by saying how he scored the same amount of league goals as berbatov last season and how he would do better this year.  Somehow failing to see that Berbatov isnt just about goals but is a fantatsic football player with ability dirk kuyt can only dream of.  I did think he should of been sold in the summer.  Those 12 goals last season were not enough to convince me he had what it takes.  His 1st touch is average, he lacks pace, his not the greatest finisher and always seems slow to anticipate things.  Great workrate and does a lot of donkey's work but as I have said before put me in a red shirt and I will run all day long but that isnt enough!!

Even though the dutch league isnt the strongest I feel Hunterlaar is a much better player than Kuyt as is Kalou at chelsea.  Alfonso Alves is another player who scored a lot of goals as did kuyt in Holland but I aint convinced he is good enough to score goals in the Prem.

would you still rather have berbatov now?

I would take him in a heartbeat. He's wasted with the mancs as they already have Rooney playing the role that Berbatov prefers. Play him with us behind Torres and we would have a frightening combination of skill and pace.

Does anyone think it took Torres absence to give him the opportunity to shine? He is still and infuriating player with a first touch like a rapist. He is an over 50% + miss to hit type of player but the system played last night seems to suit him.
Has anyone got stats to prove this?

am i only one who thought he was pretty awful last night? took his goals well but he also missed two sitters and was generally awful with his touch and distribution. Kuyt battles hard and gives his all, but his lack of skill and quality is alarming. We should be doing much better IMO.

Kuyt misses sitter after sitter and when he lead the line the last time he got 3 goals in 6 months where 2 were penalties.
In the long run Kuyt just doesn't work as a striker in the PL as he is too slow and got no 1st touch.

I reckon even when he gets home 2 out of 3 attempts ends up with his balls hitting the bedside table. :D Still I love Kuyt he always gives it his all, even if he is not the most talented player.
