Dirk kuyt - Peace everyone

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

He started well but his form tailed off badly and he should have been dropped for a couple of games, not rested. We could have tried Benny or El Zhar for a few games just to make Kuyt aware that he isn’t untouchable.

I agree.

I'd be worried if no one's  showing at Melwood that he deserves a continuous chance in that position. Benayoun for instance, has played relatively well when he's been used.

It also makes me wonder why a manager that likes to have options, hasn't considered so far the option of trying Gerrard on the right so far in the season. As far as I can remember, he was world class at the position too. I'd love to know whether Rafa considers it a not suitable option anymore, or the player doesn't want to play there. If it's the former, I don't understand Rafa not using that option. If it's the latter, that would be my first criticism of the season to the captain, and probably the last.

After the Riera signing and fixed a leak in the team, the right wing is my main worry in this team. But I think it's fair to remember Kuyt started at a good level.

I remember Gerrard in the beginning of the season was in an article stating that he preferred playing in the middle.  Then after we were on good winning form and top of the table he said he should be less selfish and would play anywhere.  But I think were best with him in the middle anyways.  If Keane was on form Gerrard on the right, but hes not.

You know I was one of Dirks biggest fans, I wanted us to sign him the year before he came but that was for his goal scoring record, he was bagging 30 goals a season in Holland.

The problem I have now is Rafa's refusal to take him off when he is offering nothing what so ever, ok he runs everywhere, but I would put on the red shirt on and run everywhere for free never mind 70 grand a week.

He was bought as a striker and he cannot play upfront on his own, he is better with someone else alongside him or on the right when we play 4-5-1.

I think the fact that he is not being dropped to give someone else a go stems from him being a Rafa untouchable. No matter how poorly he plays, he is guaranteed a place in the starting line up. Since he has been with us, he has blown hot and cold. Yet he plays even if he has a knock, looks tired, or doesnt look like scoring in a million years.

I dont dislike Kuyt atall and we missed him against Preston and he has scored some vital goals this season and last, maybe he will be better when Arby comes back but if he is to play in every single game he needs to improve but hes not alone either.

Completely agree Lynds - I've been quite a fan of Kuyt's and thought he had a great start to the season but we need more from him than we've seen over the past few months.

I'd be happy to see SG on the right for the odd game but not all the time.  I would also like to see Babel there and El Zhar and Benny from the start.  I also think that Arbeloa is a bigger loss than people reckon as he does support the attack well.

Kuyt for his shortcomings is a true honest professional and better than his knockers will have you believe and in the pressing game we use he is invaluable.  However as much as I like and appreciate the guy I would replace him if we had a better option which would be a ball player who also works.  Who that may be I dont know.

I think as well that the workload we get through in a game is the reason for Riera and Keane and Babel getting reduced game time.  One thing about Kuyt he is very very fit.  I know you need more than that but the fitness required at that level means its ridiculous when you hear the argument I would run around for 70,000 a week as it would take most people the best part of a year to get close to his level of fitness and then that would be through extremely hard work that would finish most people off.  Kuyt has got it and SG has and Mash as well most of the time

He did nothing for the club for 18 months and in those 18 months he played for us but did nothing . 07 is a long time ago . Kuyts form and play helped us get to top of the table while he was out right and hopefully once he is moved back out there he will do it again .

:O

yep its the kuyt era and we'r bound for glory now that hes hitting top form and he got us to the top of the table...

:D  Kuyt the one and only gem

JUVE WANT KUYT FOR £28M - REPORT
Posted 22/01/09 11:43

Juventus are ready to launch a £28m bid for Dirk Kuyt, according to frankly unbelievable reports in Italy.

Il Corriere Dello Sport claims that negotiations will begin next week as Juventus seek a replacement for Pavel Nedved.

The Czech star's agent Mino Raiola has told Juve that he will not accept a pay-as-you-play deal so the Old Lady have apparently turned to Kuyt instead.

Any bid would inevitably test the relationship between Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez and the club's American owners as Kuyt is clearly one of Benitez's favourite players.

****************

£28m? This CAN'T be serious!
