            Alonso      Masch

Kuyt            Gerrard          Riera

                   Keane

Nothing but a win will suffice

I'd go with that team too.

Bolton have no pace up front, it will all be high balls to Davies, so playing Hyypia is sensible.  I don't usually think switching about the back 4 to suit the opposition is a good idea, but with Arbeloa out and no decent right back cover, Carra to the right and bringing the big man in for this seems the thing to do.

Torres doesn't look anywhere near full match sharpness, so an introduction for Keane in the second half would do me.

Bolton have won a couple on the trot and confidence is high there, this won't be easy.  I'd take a 1-0 or 2-1 to us.

Not as keen as most to play our best CB at RB, just doesn't feel right. Says it all when our back-up plays twice all season and gets injured in both games, not sure whether it would be better to play our best CB in a makeshift role or play a kid. Not too keen on the idea of playing Sami, the other thing is I'm not sure he and Agger are that happy playing alongside each other as two left-footers.

I'd be tempted to play one up front, probably Keane rather than Torres as some have suggested. He is in relatively good scoring form while Torres didn't do a great deal Wednesday and perhaps easing him back as a sub would be a better strategy. We're looking terribly lightweight in the strikers department with Kuyt now out wide more often than not, and N'Gog looking every bit worth £1.5m but no more. Pretty sure we didn't have a sub striker on Wednesday, but I've already said I think Rafa boobed bigtime in selection, tactics and now the MOTM match is rather ironic in it's timing (we're already in our worst spell of the season, but it can get worse)

If we do go behind, someone point out to Rafa that you lose your DM a lot sooner than the 77th minute, and don't replace him with a little lightweight loser like Lucas.

Good time as any to give the lad a chance!
I think Rafa is afraid at times of just going for it and giving the young lads a chance on the big stage.
FFS whether you think he is ready or not quite there is irrelevant, the only way to know for sure is to put the lad out there and let him prove himself!

ok so i know that we are not going to 50-0 like i posted the other day.

Rafa better have done his homework for this game, we can win this easy if we use pace and keep the ball wide, Bolton are going to be hard to get past, they have good pace and like the long shots so we need to keep pushing them wide.

1-2 to us

not going to be a easy game if Rafa get it wrong.

I agree with a few on here that are saying this one will be a tricky game and will need Rafa to get it right tactically. I do though think we will win this 2-0 with goals in each half

Torres and Keane

Reina
Darby
JC
Agger
Aurellio
Kuyt
Gerrard
Alonso
Reira
Keane
Torres

Darby for me.

Never fancied Carra at RB, solid but doesn't offer anything going forward.

Sucks that Torres is not ready, bit its good to see Hyypia get an opportunity to redeem his mediocre carling cup game.

Its about time that we consistently put these guys away, they are tough but we have the skill going forward. Also its not that bad having Hyypia, Carra and Agger as we need all the muscle we can get for their strong forwards.

I think Torres will come on for the last half hour or so Barry. Bring him back slowly, with a full game against Fulham next match.
