Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

well its valid opinions - you keep coming up with the same old stuff about lucas and babel and arbeloa because rafa plays them so saying he must be :censored: at judging players yet look at the other players he has brought in and plays .

And maybe once just once stop accusing people of having no football knowledge just because they have a different opinion to you .

Let's judge at the end of the season whether those players are good enough, until then the jury is out.

Definitive proof is a league winners medal.

If Rafa can win the league with the players we have, he's a better coach than even I think. I already think he's probably one of the best coaches in world football.

What I have doubts about is him as a manager. Many people seem to think that managers in Spain, England and Italy all have the responsibilities, they don't. Even from club to club they differ.

The reason we've never challenged is we don't have enough quality. We're in a good position after 7 league games and everyones banging on about how great all our players are and how we have no weaknesses. As you said, we'll see, some of us already know the outcome though.

I probably share some of those doubts about him as a manager, and question a number of the decisions and selections he makes at times. I do think Rafa is learning from some of his mistakes in the past, which is helping us so far this season.

I'm not getting excited, but we have a genuine left midfielder for a start, it's only taken 4 seasons!

I agree, I don't think we have enough quality to be serious contenders this season, and I think we probably agree on the players that need improving on, Babel aside, but that's another thread!

I want us in the mix at the business end of the season. If we split Chelsea and Man Utd up in the league placings, we'll have had a good season this season I reckon.

In England the managers have a power that it's unbelievable.

In Spain, Rafa benitez would be a coach. There are no managers. If lucky, and if there was money available, he'll convince the chairman or the sports director to bring the players that he wishes to bring. So for a Spanish coach, going to England is like dream. You're not sacked in 4 weeks -- generally -- , you can decide at some extent who comes and who goes, you can decide everything. For instance Schuster tried to do closed-doors training sessions with no journos, like in England. There was such an uproar, the journos went about rights to inform, and he had to change his decission.

As a fan, I miss those cameras and those training sessions, because if you go to training sessions you know what's going on better than if you just see matches. But I also admit the greater good for the club of private training sessions. It's obviously good for the team.

In Spain, a scenario of a Ferguson deciding what journos can ask or what journos can't, would be unbelievable, and he might even be sued for anticonstitutional practices :D.

So you think that Rafa is better in the training pitch that in the office. You're probably right.

I think we can split them up as well . have a fair bit of belief in the squad at the moment and it looks liek for a change they have a bit of belief about themselves as well . here is hoping anyway

Because they're obviously experts in the field of player analysis... Just like they're expert at chatting sh*te.

I think the best thing about that post is it is guilty of the same thing that a lot of the people you're slating are guilty of - utter hyperbole.

My opinion of Kuyt has actually softened slightly in recent weeks - I still don't really rate him highly at all, he's still a very limited player, but recently he has scored some important goals and deserves credit.

But let's keep talking in extremes eh?

My heart bleeds for you. How do you cope with having to put up with exaggerations?

Dear me.

All I did was point out that you lose any credibility by talking the same rubbish you're accusing others of.

If your first reaction is to reply like a bitch, so be it!
