Well the new contact is a no brainer, of course we should give him a new contract. To me there are three compelling reasons why this is so.

1. He runs around a lot.

2. Despite a host of limitations, he remains our best bet on the right hand side of the pitch with the exception of the captain, who it appears we aren't going to play there. This says much about the quality of his rivals for the position, and the quality of the people the manager has signed to fill the position, but whatever it is a fact.

3. If we don't give him a new contract, at the end of this one he will leave for nothing and we will lost the opportunity to recoup around 1/2 of the fee we paid for him.

He was peachy Lando. I must say though, if they had equalised in the dying seconds, though I haven't currently got a pot to p!ss in, I would have stowed away on some ocean going liner and bided my time and weathtered the storm until we arrived in Portsmouth, Grimsby or whichever godforsaken place it was. I would then have disembarked and robbed the nearest bank purely so I could gather together enough money to get a one way train ticket to Liverpool. I would then have got a taxi to Melwood, tipped the driver generously and gone and strangled wee Dirk. No doubt he would have put up a mighty struggle, but I would have seen fit to do some training on the way over in ppreparation for the tussle ahead, or at the very least invest in one of those "bullworker' contraptions so as to aid my mission.

When in his dying thows he rasped out the plea 'Shtop, why are you doing this??" I would have had to tell him it was because he missed that chance at the end the usless C...

Fortunately, it didn't come to that.

Did a nice feint when passing for Babel's goal - made the 2 defenders go into the goal.

Only professional to - play in goal (41 appearances), Defence, Midfield, Striker, and later be Director and then to be Manager (winning a Championship) - at one club

I think you'd find a queue had formed by the time you'd got into position, Mick.  That was a poor miss when he was in a seemingly can't miss position and I was certain United were going to make us pay at the other end.  Thankfully, they didn't for once, which allows us to all take a breath and acknowledge that Kuyt played an important role in today's victory with his running and passing--even if he could have made it a more comfortable win for us with his shooting. :nod

It is funny to me that although he sets up the winning goal, runs, defends and presses all game some still choose to critisize because he missed a couple of easy chances.

No pleasing some people (in case you missed it, we beat Utd) ???
