Kuyt is a proven goalscorer in the Dutch League and at international level. We need to use him up top with Torres or Keane in some sort of rotation. He does not have the pace or the technique to play on the wing even though he runs his balls off every game for the team. He is a forward or nothing.

It is my opinion that he should be used as Rafas "blunt instrument" up front, coming on as a sub and rotating into the side when Keane and Torres are rested. He will get plenty of games this way.

Kuyt isnt good enough to play first team football week in week out for Liverpool FC. Not as a striker nor as a wide man. He demonstrated his lack of instinct when he played upfront for us a couple of seasons back, and Rafa persisted with him time and time again. Rafas now doing the same with him on the right hand side, except this time we really have nobody out there in that position who can do the job.

No idea Barry , they only give the League stats unfortunately on the site I go on.

I think Kuyt has scored 26 goals (inc his latest)in all comps since he came, but no idea about assists.

I don't know if he said that, but he definitely said:

"He is very clever on the pitch and he can play with Fowler, Crouch and Bellamy. I know he played in a wide role for Holland during the World Cup but for me he is a striker not a winger."

I think he saw him as able to play in a few positions, but that his ideal position was as a striker.

He's been playing well for a long time, and he's someone I'm sure will bring a quality to the team. Sometimes you see a top class player who may find it hard to adapt to the Premiership, but in his case he has the work rate, game intelligence and goalscoring ability to make him succeed in England.

We needed someone who would be different to Bellamy and Robbie, but maybe similar in a way to Crouch. Kuyt can not only play as a target man, he can play as the second striker, on the right or on the left. For sure, he's not someone we'll use as a winger , but he can play alongside Bellamy, Fowler, Crouch and Luis and give us many options.

We first talked about him when we were at Valencia. That was when we first monitored him and kept having him watched. I know Liverpool supporters like players who work really hard, and he is like this. He is a complete type of player. He does everything well. He'll score with both feet and his head."

Well, I think the point remains the same whether that quote is true or not. He intended to use him as a striker, but there was the option that he could play elsewhere if needed.

It doesnt matter whatever, Rafas forked out 10 Million pounds on a seemingly nice guy (has to be said) but a footballing flop at the same time.

Obviously not one of Rafas best transfer deals in the eyes of alot of people, but he still rates him which leaves me scratching my head.

when rafa signed keane i remember him saying how keane could play as second striker, or down the wings. i think every player he buys will at some point be a winger
