Torres, is there any fee big enough........ - To make us sell him?

FFS The Times is saying money is no object for Chelsea to sign Torres

Money no object, Chelsea tell Luiz Felipe Scolari

Luiz Felipe Scolari has been presented with a list of targets by Chelsea that features Fernando Torres, Robinho and Franck Ribéry. The Brazilian, who will take over as manager next month, will be given an unlimited transfer budget by Roman Abramovich, the club's owner, and has proposed signing Kaká and Deco.

Chelsea, with a well-drilled defence and outstanding central midfield players such as Michael Ballack, Frank Lampard and Michael Essien, will focus on recruiting wide players and strikers this summer, a policy that fits with Abramovich's desire for more attacking football. Many of the club's targets may prove beyond their reach as they play for rivals with no need to sell, but Abramovich is confident that the sheer weight of money will convince some of them to cash in.

Torres is a case in point, with Liverpool adamant that they will not sell a striker who scored 33 goals in his first season with the club, but Chelsea hope to exploit divisions between the club's warring owners, George Gillett Jr and Tom Hicks. Chelsea have been told that one of the Americans is willing to let Torres go for the right price and are planning to test Liverpool's resolve with a bid. Blood bath if this happens.

Probably but with the Ronaldo saga and due to the fact we have two b@stard owners that are out to fleece us, anything could happen.

Torres loves us, he wont leave. He just said so recently in that interview with GB.

"Fernando Torres:
I want to say very clearly that I’m not on the market and it is my desire to continue at Liverpool. I’m very happy at Liverpool and I want to carry on."

I bet I can guess which of the yanks would like to sell him if the right price came along. :censored: :censored:.

If the owners decided to sell Torres, then all hell would break loose. (they' have to go into hiding) I reckon it would come to the point where the fans would actually hound him until found (no stone left unturned so to speak).  I know it sounds Over the top but fans will be up in arms

i wouldn't be surprised if chelsea come in with a ridiculous bid for torres, or with a series of stupid bids with a view to unsettling the team and the player. they probably know they have a snowball in hell's chance of getting him but it ain't gonna stop 'em trying. the players, the manager, the owners and the fans all know that if we sell our new star player, record transfer and top scorer to a main rival it heralds the end of liverpool as a top club with pretentions of titles and cups. if we want to be resigned to being a feeder club for the two, rapidly breaking away, big boys then we'll sell him and for no other reason.

I'm with Ciggy on this. As long as the yanks are here nobody is safe. They could well view this as an opportunity to turn a very large profit very quickly. The one thing that eases my fears is Torres appears to be about as honest as a modern footballer can be. He had many offers to leave athletico but remained loyal. I believe Torres has a real affinity for the club and would like to see the job through. Just hope our lack of finance doesn't start to worry our top players

If they were to sell him there would be a riot, I dont care how much we would get for him.

In all honesty If Barca came in and asked for a straight swap with Torres and Messi Id tell them to go fuck themselves. The man is irreplacable.

Yep I wouldnt trade him for anyone.

Everyone is just excited that Scolari is the new manager so naturally hes going to get an open cheque book. There was talk of Kala but Milan have today already come out and said Kaka is going nowhere. If their interest is serious Rafa just has to come out in public one time and say hands off. But to be honest Torres said in that interview himself hes not interested. Im sure someone will have a word in Hick's ear that he should not be sold under any circumstances.

If it comes up we have to nip it in the bud asap to not let it spiral out of control like and end up being a summer of :censored: like we had with Stevie.

If the owners give any hint that they are open to offers then I really wont know what to think.

Moores.....greedy :censored: :censored: look what you have done.

Liverpool issue warning on Torres
By Phil McNulty
Chief football writer

Liverpool have dismissed claims that Fernando Torres could be tempted away from Anfield by a massive bid from new Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari.

The 24-year-old Spain striker was at the centre of speculation that he was a top target for Scolari, along with AC Milan's Brazil superstar Kaka.

But Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry told BBC Sport: "Fernando Torres is just not for sale to anyone.

"It is as simple as that, really - he is not going anywhere."

Torres took the Premier League by storm last season, scoring 33 goals after his move to Liverpool from his boyhood club Atletico Madrid.

And he has already delivered an impressive performance for Spain in their 4-1 win against Russia in their opening game of Euro 2008.

Scolari has been handed a huge transfer budget by Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, and Torres was among a number of names listed as players he will attempt to sign once he arrives at Stamford Bridge on 1 July.

But Parry has made it clear even Abramovich's millions will not prise Torres away from Liverpool after only one season on Merseyside.

Worth a gamble i reckon , villa would be quality but than again he could be a flop , like torres could have been . Simply , don't fix anything that's not broken

Good point mate......

But Torres does need a partner if we play 442 or partners if we retain the 4321 formation. Quality partner that is.... Doesn't look like its gonna happen next season judging from the start of the silly season..... Still its early days and theres no real need to panic.... just yet.

i think mate if we not sign another striker , it could be babel upfront with torres next season with maybe barry on the left , masch and stevie in the middle and kuyt on the right . Babel is young and we have seen his ability to get goals , could be worth a punt i reckon

I said something similar about Babel and I was being hassled for it.

I read somewhere that rafa said that he would be using more of babel upfront for next season , if i find the story again i'll post it here . If money clearly is an option than we have to risk it and play babel upfront even though he has had not much experience in that position for LFC yet
