I don't think the dutch league is any good and thought he was out of his depth when I saw him in the world cup. Was gutted when LFC paid £10m for him and said so here at the time. I think Rafa was had.

I'd sell him for £5m if we got such an offer.

Seems like a nice bloke, tries hard, but nowhere near good enough.

I was gutted when we signed him as spurs were getting berbatov for around the same price and our name was mentioned a few times in the media with berbatov.  I knew about berbatov at leverkuson and was convinced he would be a superstar at spurs.  Granted I did feel Kuyt would be better than he has been I always thought we got the inferior player.  Funny how in the summer when many were questioning the abilities of kuyt some tried to justify his signing by saying how he scored the same amount of league goals as berbatov last season and how he would do better this year.  Somehow failing to see that Berbatov isnt just about goals but is a fantatsic football player with ability dirk kuyt can only dream of.  I did think he should of been sold in the summer.  Those 12 goals last season were not enough to convince me he had what it takes.  His 1st touch is average, he lacks pace, his not the greatest finisher and always seems slow to anticipate things.  Great workrate and does a lot of donkey's work but as I have said before put me in a red shirt and I will run all day long but that isnt enough!!

Even though the dutch league isnt the strongest I feel Hunterlaar is a much better player than Kuyt as is Kalou at chelsea.  Alfonso Alves is another player who scored a lot of goals as did kuyt in Holland but I aint convinced he is good enough to score goals in the Prem.

Noone doubts Kuyt's effort and determination, but sadly he isn't up to the job.  Equally Crouch and Voronin aren't good enough either.  We will have to make do until the summer by the looks of it.  I'll be well miffed if they aren't all sold in the summer.

Thought he looked very down and frustrated last night nothing went for him. I felt sorry for him and as much as he annoys me I think he loves the club and wants to do well for us soo badly.

I'm not saying that Kuyt is a good player cos he's not but he does BETTER if he's played further up the park.

I'd still get shut if we could get £8m+ and cut our loses................................ HUNTELAAR anyone :;):

Huntelaar?
Well, if you want a very static player. Then you choose Huntelaar.

by the way, there is a big chance he won't be selected for the WC squad.
Due to his failure to convince and play regulary at his clubs.

He probably will be sold for the 3rd time in a year.

Huntelaar's class is half the class Van Nistelrooy has and if he doesn't score he is worthless for your squad, unlike Kuyt who will bring balance to any squad.

But.....Kuyt is exceptionally ugly...I mean, he's X-Files material.....surely that's reason to keep him out of the team ?

Played really well last night Dirk.
Great finish for his goal and showed great nerve putting 2 pens away.
I have never seen him take a poor penalty.
He should have buried the chance minutes earlier - but nothing is straight forward with him is it  :D

One thing that was far better last night was the hold up play.
Ngog struggled to hold it up at all on Saturday but Dirk did really well last night in that respect.

Hehe yeah or it's one of the reasons to select him; it will make the rest of the squad feel more confident about their looks ;)

Kuyt vs Berbatov, with games going the way they'd have been I'd prefer the non stop running and hard work albeit not often top class performances of Kuyt (one of the ugliest men in football since Beardsly) to having someone like Berbatov on the pitch standing about sulking.

Sadly the anti-Kuyt sentiment is so much that few will come in here and put praise as much as they will come in here and slate.

Well played Dirky boy, he's had a few good games recenty and looks in better form than he was. Have to forgive him what passed for "misses" last night, were any of them as good as the his late effort against the post against Stoke...............?

Well played Dirk, took both goals really well.

unfortunately this thread is bumped only once every four months when Kuyt does something exceptionable, by his standards. :D

There's no denying that he has had a really poor season but he stepped up last night when we needed him, fair play.

I wasn't "gutted" when we signed Dirk, but I agree with the rest of your post

MotM yesterday. Took his goals well and as usual he fought his :censored: off for the team. Hasn't been too great lately, but hopefully he'll now kick on from here.
