garcia is not a GOOD player... his weaknesses as a player cost us as many goals as he scored last season.

Garcia is not a good player? Garcia is one of the main reasons why we made it in the Champions League final in the first place. All players have weaknesses and I can only recall one time when Garcia losing the ball led to us conceeding a goal and that was against Fulham at home.

Quote
carson... only chelsea were willing to pay how much leeds demanded for him, surely rafa wasnt the only other premiership manager to see him play?

So Carson is a bad keeper because only us and Chelsea wanted to buy him?

Quote
morientes... repayed about £2.99 of the £6M we spent on him so far

Morientes didn't have a full season to prove himself nor did he have the fitness.

Quote
ppl say becoz crouch scored 16 goals around players last season, he'll score more with better players... wat abt the other side of the coin.... maybe he was made to look better than he really is becoz he was playing with  players

If he scored 16 goals with sh1t players why couldn't he do it with a better club?

Quote
we had better get a LOT more than £7M for baros becoz its FACT that baros is a better player, and when he moves on.. he WILL show that. hope he doesnt go to another premiership club.

Good luck to him, I don't care where he proves himself because he can't do it for Liverpool Football Club.

Totally agree - How can anyone say garcia is not a good player? Yeah because lots of rubbish players can volley a ball over one of the best goal keepers in the world from 25 yards in the Champions league quarter final....and before anyone says oh that was just one goal I would point out he scored more than anyone for us in our European Cup run to the final!!

As for crouch...I agree the price is somewhat inflated but I will reserve judgement, hope he can do a job when our other strikers are rested after midweek European exertions!!

Has this Pablo friggin Aimar ever been to a game ? because he knows sodall about football.

If I was to list the worse 250 players, value for money, I've actually seen in a LFC shirt (and I've travelled with this side throughout the world over the last 40 years) then NOT ONE of Benitez's signings would get anywhere near to being on that list.

No one can ensure that every signing will work out but at least you now know that if Raffa signs a player, there will be an honest player in a red shirt and like it or lump it that's a big improvement on the last 15 years.

Peter crouch may be overpriced but if you put it another way .... Zenden,Crouch and Figo (If we get him) for 7 million pounds it does not seem that bad does it .

As for Crouch as a player ,he may not be the best player in the world but rafa sees him a vital cog to the working of the Liverpool engine ,Rafas ideas about football is about the team not the individual.

Lets just see how he does and support him

Woah! Let's chill out a bit here people. I'll be the first to admit that I am not thrilled about the signing of Crouch, but I'm not going to slag him off. He may prove to be fantastic, but I do have my reservations. I don't want Baros to go either, but saying he is a "better" player than Crouch is neither here nor there. As far as strikers go, all I care about is the goals they score, not how they are scored and these guys are looking pretty even at the mo. Garcia is rubbish? Well that is your opinion and you have every right to voice that opinion, even if it is a crock of horsesh!t. I still don't agree with the £7m, but as long as the densive problems are solved this season, and we don't have so many injuries, I'll be a happy bunny if we get fourth. Rome wasn't built in a day, but if they had Peter Crouch, they wouldn't have needed to fork out for scafolders. I have my doubts, but I'll watch him before I make my mind up.

Im just wondering if rafa is trying to be too tactical for his own good?

I mean, buying Zenden to bang in the crosses, crouch to knock them in, easy as 1,2,3!

maybe not.

Rafa has bought him as an alternative to what we've currently got.  We lost 11 games away from home and Rafa believes that Crouch will offer something different to the team especilaly in these away games.  How often in the past have we been crying out for someone whose good in the air to win a few flicks and be able to nod a few in at the far post.  Also he's a good bloke to have around at the back when defending corners and set peices even though pepe seems to have confidence in coming for alot of crosses etc ehich is good to see!!

Benithez likes to have different options and Crouch, being so tall, would give aerial presence like no other that we have at the moment.
