Thanks for the info mate.

What players did he sign himself ?

Lucho Gonzales from Porto was a very good signing.  His the playmaker.  Dont know he never made the Argentinan squad.

Heinze, Diawara, Stéphane Mbia, Morientes (never played lol) and he one important thing he did do was get Ben Arfa playing.  Ben Arfa is very very talented but hasnt managed to fulfill his potential.  Deschamps finally seems to have cracked the code in getting him performing on a weekly basis.

how is his english though?

Cant say that I am over the moon at the prospect of Deschamps but I would guess hes a good English speaker and I recall him giving interviews during his time with Chelsea. Seems to me that clubs always favour the foreign managers because they seem to feel these boys will attractive to players. I think Liverpool is a big enough name to pull players in regardless of the manager but then again I could be wrong. If Deschamps is a better football man or manager than Hodgson I would eat my hat but then again we wont get the oppertunity to judge both at Liverpool.

Deschamps will not come for the simple reason that it would cost
serious money to get him from Marseille.

Quote from OM president:

"I replied that I would never forbid anyone from meeting whoever. I also kindly indicated to him that there wasn't the slightest chance for him to pinch our coach. Even in his dreams."

Put that one on the back burner.

I am still wating for those world class managers, that all the deluded anti-Rafa's said would come, to knock on the door since "we are so great"...  :no

Some people said the club definitiley wouldn't sack Rafa because of his expensive severance payment. I doubt a couple of million quid is going to stop them getting the right one in.

There is still a chance that Moureen will come because he "wants a challenge"

zzzz

In what way, in any kind or form, is that an upgrade?
Or giving us a higher chance of keeping our players?

Benitez out and Hodgson in costing probably 8-9 million in the process...
Makes sense to me for only one reason.... getting a YES-man.

Well, he is sitting in a nice position with the league winners, automatic CL qualifying, probably nice financial backing and a very reluctant president to let him go.

To leave for a europa league team in financial turmoil with only its name as primary bargaining chip...

I don't get it when people say "I would be willing to give him a chance" when talking about Deschamps, I really don't. That or the "well I'll give until Christmas" about Hodgson.

Surely the new manager of Liverpool whoever they are deserve support and respect. I think the new manager should be given a fair crack of the whip. At least a few seasons to see how he gets on, Houliier had six, Benitez had six (the last four trophyless) and thats how it should be at a great club such as ours. Between them they managed one title challenge in twelve seasons, and now you've got people saying that the new manager won't win the league because he's sht. Winning the league isn't easy, even challenging for it isn't easy as Houllier and Benitez proved.

No doubt if it is Deschamps they'll be taking the mickey out of his hieght, his accent and all the rest. They've already gotten into Roy Hodgson with all the "Woy" stuff and we haven't even taken him on. Why don't we just concentrate on the football and give any new manager a chance to see how he gets on? Step one is trying to better 7th in the league, and perhaps get to the quater finals of one of the domestic cups. An appearance at Wembley sometime over the next few seasons wouldn't go amiss either, surely if Portsmouth can do it Liverpool can.

I think the optimist's shift is over in here.
Football is a relatively simple game and Roy knows it ;)

There is a fine line between optimism and naivety/delusion...

Snr.Benitez won 2 cups in 6 years, one was the champions league ( we were no where near the best team in europe that year, we came 5th in the league )

Every manager is a risk.......although I'm not the biggest Hodgeson fan I do feel it odd that Deschamps is praised for a serie B title , a french title and doing well last year with Marseille...............

Those excited by Deschamps then should be equally excited about Hodgeson who has probably won more trophies, speaks more languages, has managed in the english league before,  more matured and so on

I really do believe its a case of his name sounding more french and exciting.
