And that is my worst fear Bav , it would break my heart mate ,
There are 2 issues here:
1. Kenny the man. First day of the season, 5 minutes before kick off Kenny walks onto the pitch by himself. Silence reigns, Kenny looks into the eyes of the crowd, lets the stadium know who the new gaffer is. Instant credibility.
2. Kenny the manager. Knows none of Rafa's/modern managers methods - the training scheme, the endless hours of fitness tests, diet analysis, player videos, etc.. the ethos that was Rafa. One of the great services Rafa did was to drag us into the modern game - kenny is way out of touch. Spend 50 million - on who, Kenny?
I cant see how it would be good for the great man, he IS THE MAN, but its like asking Bobby Charlton to take over from Whiskeynose, its fantasy.
I spent an afternoon in the company of the great man about 6 weeks ago (when all the chat about Rafa was well underway) and asked him outright if he would want the managers job.
To quote the man he would "babysit for a while and until such time as a more suitable permanent replacement was sourced".
So...I think it's fanasy to think that Kenny will take over full-time although, with the chat about takeovers etc being months and maybe years, perhaps he might need to babysit for some time....
