PORTSMOUTH VS LIVERPOOL - Saturday 19th december 2009

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Postby RobinHood6969 » Thu Dec 17, 2009 5:57 am

Mission Wigan is accomplished. Now its a tricky mission at Fratton Park come saturday. So far this season we have never been on a winning run. Now this is the time to kick start it. Its now or never this season for us.
The last time we visited Fratton Park it was Nando won the game with a late goal. Rafa opted to play Aurelio as a holding mid resting Nando, Xabi,Riera, and Kuyt.Stevie was out injured. The game was decided entirely in the second half with 5 goals coming in it. We came back twice to take the game 3-2 right at the death. Aurelio,Kuyt and nando were the scorers that night.
That said we shouldnt take this game lightly as pompey seem to do pretty well recently. they really gave it a try against league leaders last night.
In the last 6 home games pompey have won 3 and lost 3. Whereas in our last 6 away games we have won 2 lost 2 and drawn 2.
Younes Kaboul will be back for pompey after suspension. Frederic Piquionne has picked up a knock for them.
Guess we would be playing our best XI (supposing Glen Johnson is fit). And it would be a return for johnson to his old club as well.
Am vouching for a 3-1 victory for us, once again conceding from a corner.

A possible banana skin. Portsmouth are resilient and their league position doesn't reflect their form at present. I can't see anything more than a scrappy 1-0 win at best.

Have you inside knowledge down on the South Coast ?

Nah I agree mate....Plus, I think Grant is a useful manager and is already starting to galvanise the players. They're not really as bad as say, Wolves or Wigan...

Five games at FP under Rafa, P5 W3 D1 L1 so not bad but not great. Beating the mancs or bitters might be described as "tricky", we need to beat sides at the bottom or we've no chance of winning the league (in any season, I don't mean this season)

Hard fought late win I reckon, if we don't win the next two then Rafa may as well feck off now.
Never buy from PC World, product quality is poor and their 'customer service' is even poorer

This is how I would play:

Just hope Johnson will be ready. Carra as right back isn't the best solution ;)
