Liverpool vs Wolves 12/05 15:00 ko

Liverpool Football Club - Games

We never lost the title today folks. We lost it when we lost away at Man City when our 7 point lead got reduced to 4 points I knew then they would reel us in. Had we just avoided defeat we would be champions today.

Strange feeling, 97 points and not champions. Have to do it all again next season. Sigh. Looks like we're gonna need 100 points to win it.

We lost when we drew with Leicester and West Ham back in Jan...the lost didn't ultimately cost us

That draw at Anfield was huge.

I'd say the one defeat at their place.

Sorry lads we didn’t lose it anywhere. City were relentless and won 14 straight. Just sometimes, regardless of how much they spent, they answered every question we asked and we have got to accept that they played extremely well. We lost one game all season which is a remarkable achievement in itself. Yes we drew a few but that is inevitable. City lost to Newcastle and Crystal Palace. We were exceptional and this is not the time to be armchair critics.

Well done Reds.

Good luck in Madrid.

Sad that we finished second, thought I would be gutted but I'm not...I'm proud as hell

Unbelievable effort.
Forget the draws against  West Ham etc etc they are irrelevant.. The only result that mattered was the draw with City at Anfield - if we won we would have had 99 points and pipped them.

The standout lesson is that WE have to take 4 points minimum off City ( 6 would be better), there is no point expecting others to do it for you.

YNWA  - Looking forward to number 6 on the 2nd June.

Honestly scratching my head, City lost four matches and still won the league, I don't know how we can topple them to be honest. We didn't do a lot wrong.

They will be just as strong for the next 2/3 seasons I reckon, so it will take a mammoth effort just to get 90+ points in future seasons. We're 25 points clear of third place, so it's a strange one.

Some dead wood to move out in the summer to free up cash for new player salaries. I'm looking forward to Ox and Brewster playing a pile of games next season. I want Lallana, Studge, Moreno and one or two others gone. They added nothing all season.
Need to spend well though in the close season but because of who we are we'll be overcharged.

97 points and we are not the finished article yet -and that's another reason for hope.

Bring in a top drawer striker as back up for the front three, a  "Fekir " type player for midfield and a high quality back up for LB and we will get there.

Get those in and we will be an even more formidable juggernaut next year.

We let a very good lead slip away and City did not let go after beating us. Its an incredible points haul but not enough. The wait goes on and on.

We will be even better next season for sure - especially after moreno, studge, lallana etc are sent packing and more players of a higher calibre are brought in... personally I think we need to show more ambition in the transfer market rather than drip feed marquee signings one season to the next. The game has changed and we need a level playing field.

That’s a discussion for next time though...we have one more game to play ...

Hope we don't play like that in Madrid!
Congrats to Jurgen and the lads on an incredible season, every single one of them did the shirt and the badge proud.

Fantastic effort by us. We didn't lose it, City won it and for me they won it the night they got knocked out the CL. I think that night it dawned on them that their season could end up a damp squib if they didn't pick up the league and that realigned their focus. They've got away with it with just squeezing past the likes of spurs, burnley and Leicester but there's not much more we could have done. Getting 97 points, losing one game all season and going on the run we have at the end and to still not win the league is ridiculous when you sit down and think about it.

Ah well, lads. The boys did us proud. I'm a bit disappointed, but not really. I got that over with in January. After our lead slipped away, I really didn't think we'd run them this close.  One point, one miserable point, dammit.
But, we were all-but unbeatable. The only team to take all three points off us went on to win the Prem. By one poxy point lol.
I guess the only chink in our armour is our deadliness 'deadliness' (is that even a word?) in front of goal, which may have lead to unnecessary draws, and I believe that will improve. Mo supposedly had an on-off season, but still is one of the golden boot winners!
It's all good. This group of players are relentless, they never give up. This season was NO failure. Victory in Madrid would top it off nicely.
Proud to be a red. Have been for 44 years.
