Manquillo looks a little nervous. First game in the league is enough for some allowances to be made in my opinion.

Don't understand Lucas over Can to bd honest. I can only think it's a window shopping exercise by Rodgers.

Lovren and Skrtel look solid.

Johnson despite making attacking mistakes has performed his job defensively. Receives too much flack in my opinion.

If anything we look a little rusty still and clearly lacking the moments of creative brilliance that Suarez brought. But we knew that and despite his absence were still winning and are worth it. Southampton have had possession but no real chance at goal.

We seem to be playing 7 at the back Hendo on his own in MF and 3 up front, when we are trying to bring it out from the back we only have the fb as an option or hit it long, Hendo is swamped. Need to change the mf, probably take Lucas off

Haven't been impressed by Lucas or Gerrard in the middle. Like many of you I wonder why Can wasn't selected over him, unless it's just putting him in the shop window.

I don't get our goal kicks. Mignolet passes it to one of our defenders, who come under pressure and pass it back to Mignolet, who boots it up the field while under pressure. Why not just take the goal kick while not under pressure?

Hell of a goal by Southampton.. We weren't ready for that at all.

Look who went to sleep again. Who was Johnson defending there? he's just standing around outside the box, nowhere near the center of the box, and put zero effort to get in and help defend. That goal was created from absolutely nothing, and now they're looking much more lively than we are.

The crowd has not been in this game at all either. I don't care how drab or slow this game may be, it's the first f*cking game of the season and it sounds like we're playing in front of an empty stadium.

We've seen this from Brendan before.

My guess is the Can has ***** off Brendan and Brendan is making a point to teach him.
