ARSENAL VS LIVERPOOL- carling cup - Wednesday 28 october 2009 19:45

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Postby Madmax » Tue Oct 27, 2009 12:57 am

Liverpool resume Carling Cup duties on Wednesday evening when the Reds go head-to-head with Arsenal at the Emirates.

Rafael Benitez's charges booked their place in the fourth round of the competition courtesy of a hard-fought 1-0 win over Leeds United at Elland Road.

However, Liverpool will be well aware Arsene Wenger's young Gunners will pose a stern threat to their League Cup aspirations.

Arsenal eliminated West Brom in the last round to set up a enticing encounter with Rafa's Reds.

--------------------------------------------------------------

Will be a tough one considering how well the arsenal youngsters perform..

I would play...

------------Reina----------------

Kelly-----agger---skertel-----insua

benny----macha--lucas------babel

-------------gerrard-------------

--------------torres/ngog--------

Macha will miss the fulham match anyway so why not give him a go.

Want to win this one and hopefully progress in this competition.

Max mate im sure Javier is gonna miss this game ,instead of the Fulham one .an i wouldnt have Torres anywere near the pitch he looked knackerd when he came off yesterday , give him a nice earned rest. id give some of the ressies a go here mate, Patches, Amoo , Threllfall, Kelly, an i wouldnt bet against Aqualinni having a run out, more match minutes under his belt

I'd rest Gerrard too and play a 4-4-2.  No point risking SG's groin injury.

Something like:

                              Reina

Kelly            Carra          Agger           Insua

Kuyt           Lucas        Spearing         Aurelio/Kaciniclic

                    Pacheco
                                   Ngog

The midfield hardly looks potent so perhaps Pacheco could drop back alongside Lucas in place of Spearing, with Torres (depending on fitness) or Babel coming in alongside Ngog, or even Benayoun in behind one of the three.

It would be nice if the back four/keeper remained more or less the same (one change at fullback poss) because it's Arsenal and we need to start building a good defensive record. Ahead of that though, with Torres/Gerrard perhaps not being fully fit, I'd mix it up a bit, certainly giving Pacheco a start and maybe a couple of others too.

Want to see Pacheco in this game. Rafa better let him have a kick in this or I'll be disappointed.

Cunning plan from Masch he was on 3 yellows now this ban see's the slate wiped clean  :;):

Not to bothered about this game, of course I will be made up if we win but Fulham and Lyon are more important games at this moment in time.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Cav

Degen                       Agger               Skrtel                 Dossena

Babel                        Lucas               Pacheco              Riera

                               Ngog                Voronin

Reckon we'll have our work cut out playing against the youngsters , can't see us winning at the emirates unless its a stronger team , i'll go with a 1-0 loss. Don't really care for the carling cup , just want to see our reserve players give it a real go

I'm just hoping we can give the Arsenla kids a game for a change this time! It will be the usual mix of fringe players and youth for us in this one. I'd like to see Kelly given a run at CB (his righful position) and hope to see Spearing and Ngog get a start. I'm really hopeful of seeing Aquillani play the last 20 mins or so, it would make more sense than a reserve match for me. Here's my guess at the team:

                     Cavalieri

Degen       Kelly        Skrtel     Dossena

Babel        Spearing      Plessis     Riera

                       Voronin

                        Ngog

I know Pacheco is in the Spain U19 squad for their games in early November. I think he is in a training camp that is getting ready for their three games between the 3rd and the 8th of November.

Also, we will be without  Mascherano, Riera, and Kelly, and I wouldn't want to risk Torres or Gerrard, and Aquilani is probably only fit enough for the bench.  I would consider giving JOhnson a rest, he is picked in almost every game, plays every game for England, and it was only a week ago that he wasn't fit enough to play against Lyon.

Agger went months without playing and has played non stop football since coming back, that doesn't seem healthy. I would also want to rest Carra at any chance this season. Which would leave Skrtel and El Greco. I would play Darby or Degen at RB.

                                      Cavalieri
      Degen             Skrtel               El Greco        Aurelio
                          Plessis           Spearing
    Babel                          Voronin                        Dossena
                                      N'Gog

Gulacsi
Ayala
Darby
Palsson
Eccleston
Aquilani
Amoo

Personally I'd start Agger. He needs games.
