ARSENAL VS LIVERPOOL- carling cup - Wednesday 28 october 2009 19:45

Liverpool Football Club - Games

Postby red till i die!! » Tue Oct 27, 2009 3:32 pm

we have to rest the senior players for this one.
give the fringe players a shot.
would love to get a good look at pacheco amoo and mavinga so hopefully they will play.
it is the lesser of the domestic trophys so i think our priority should be continuing to press for the league and cl which is going to be a tough one.
its not going to be an easy game for whichever team he decides to field

Alberto Aquilani could make his Liverpool debut against Arsenal on Wednesday after being named in the squad for our Carling Cup fourth round clash.

The 25-year-old will not start at the Emirates but Benitez may utilise him as a substitute at some point.

The boss told Liverpoolfc.tv: "He will be with us. He is improving his fitness, so he's in the squad.

"He cannot start at this moment but he will be there and maybe we can give him some minutes. If it's possible we will try to use him."

Benitez believes the Italy international, who hasn't featured since signing from Roma in the summer due to an ankle injury, will add a new dimension to his midfield.

"We can see in every training session that he has quality, game intelligence and good movements," said the Spaniard. "He is a different kind of player for us.

"We talk about using Gerrard deeper sometimes, but maybe in Aquilani we have a player who can play there and pass the ball really well in the final third."

Id actually play Dossena, give him some playing time just incase. You never know if Aurelio or Insua could pick up knocks soon. NGog should play, infact he should start. I hope we see Pacheco too.
My new blog for my upcoming holiday.

Arsenal have a squad like ours, they lack strength in depth. So if they are going to put out a weak side it will be considerably weaker than their starting XII just like ours.

Will be a close game this one i reckon.

seem to be a couple people claiming to know the team on RAWK and whatdayaknow its the same team.  sounds believable:

                cavalieri

degen  skrtel krygiakos  dossena

eccleston spearing plessis babel

               voronin  ngog

not saying I 100% believe it, but it seems as good a chance as any.

Injury update prior to Arsenal game

Rafa Benitez is hopeful of having Steven Gerrard back for Saturday's trip to Fulham.

The skipper won't feature against Arsenal on Wednesday night due to a groin injury sustained on international duty.

But Benitez told Liverpoolfc.tv: "Gerrard will not be available for this game but he is improving, so hopefully he can be ready for Saturday."

Martin Kelly (ankle) and Albert Riera (hamstring) are also out and will not be available for one or two weeks.

There is better news for Benitez in that both Andrea Dossena and Sotirios Kyrgiakos could feature in the Carling Cup fourth round clash after recovering from knocks.

Benitez added: "Dossena has been training and will be in the squad. It was one or two small things with him.

"Kyrgiakos has been training. We had bad news when everyone was talking about him being out for six months after the internationals. It wasn't that bad because now he's training and he's available too."

Meanwhile, both Glen Johnson and Fernando Torres came through Sunday's victory over Manchester United without troubling previous injuries.

Benitez said: "It was difficult for both especially because it was a tough game, but they were training and we were taking care of them.

"Now they are training and I think they'll be available for the next games."

Put a bet on with my mate (fulham fan) before the season began.
If n'gog scores 5 or more goals this season then he has to get a liverbird tattoo.
come on david! 2 more!
