Although if Italy and England get knocked out in the group stages maybe it's a good time to go for Lippi or Capello?

Can He spot a player? Yes.  Can He pick a team?  Yes.  Does He know that pass and move is the Liverpool groove?  Yes.  Does He have experience of winning League championships.  Yes, more than any other manager in the EPL bar Ferguson, who might have been shown the door a long time ago if He hadn't have had to leave 20 years ago.  Don't care how long he's been out the game, we need a fooball manager, not a feckin wizard.  Football is a simple game, made complicated by coaches.  Dalglish plus LFC=Gold.

I'm liking the prospect of us hiring Mike Bassett former England manager. If he can get Tonka onside, we'll easily have a twenty goals a season striker with an alcohol problem.

Maddock in the Mirror says Woy is on his way home from SA and will be our manager by friday, this will be the worst managerial appointment this club has ever made, they must be doing this to p!ss us off even more.

Roy hodgeson Liverpool manager feckinell. :no
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Funny how rafa got sacked for one bad season and it seems like Roy will be appointed based on one good season.

Who is making this decision anyways?  from what we've heard, kenny does not support this and none of the others have a football related role.  Im guessing Purslow is in charge of this decision and due to his lack of football knowledge he is going to choose the flavour of the month.

I wonder if anyone has sent them the poll results.

I'll give him a chance if he comes in - but why not appoint Kenny on a short-term contract?

All wouldn't necessarily be lost (I'm hoping) by this appointment, who did Shankly manage before he came to Liverpool.  ???

this is on their website....

Skysports.com understands Liverpool have lined up a move for Galatasaray boss Frank Rijkaard as they search for a new manager.

The Reds are still hunting a replacement for Rafa Benitez following the Spaniard's departure from Anfield earlier this month.

A number of names have been linked with the Anfield hot-seat, including Fulham boss Roy Hodgson and former Real Madrid coach Manuel Pellegrini and now Rijkaard has come under consideration from the Liverpool board.

Former Holland international Rijkaard is regarded as one of the best coaches in Europe following his success at Barcelona, where he won two Spanish titles and the UEFA Champions League during his tenure at Camp Nou.

Compensation
Sources in Turkey claim Liverpool have approached Galatasaray twice in the last week to seek permission to talk to Rijkaard, but that the Turkish club have rejected their overtures.

Rijkaard, who took over at Galatasaray in June 2009, has just a year to run on his current deal, meaning Liverpool may not have to fork out a high compensation fee if they can agree a deal with Galatasaray for the 47-year-old.

The Dutchman is believed to be keen on managing in the Premier League at some stage in his career, but Galatasaray are reluctant to lose his services.

Liverpool are keen to sort out their managerial situation as soon as possible and they could be forced look elsewhere if Galatasaray fail to release Rijkaard.
