LIVERPOOL VS EVERTON - Merseyside derby

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

As I've said, Kuyt's been a pivotal player for us of late. Doing all the ugly work. Shame shallow minded people are judging him on the position he was bought to play in. If he gets a chance and misses it, then that makes him terrible and negates all his other good work on the pitch for some. Blind. Agreed, he's not LFC striker standard, but he's working his balls off for the shirt and that pleases me.

We bossed this. Everton are shyte. End of. NEXT!

what? you 10 year old!

I watched every second. Im sorry pal, but when Torres lays a perfect ball off to you first half, then 12 yards out, you have to hit the target . His curler missed second half easily.

Kuyt is cr*p full stop. hard work so what. no impact. he could have been a sub today and made as much impact

Michael Owen any day. 20 a season. he has already scored 9 in a simply awful newcastle side. in the current LFC side with Torres, he will shine once more.

So obvious choice

Great result - which was all that mattered as per usual in the derby.

Lucas Leiva - not going to be the star we all hoped for IMHO ..too lightweight and no aspect of his game that is other than average. Premiership player - possibly. Top 4 player - no way I'm afraid.

I think the guy should be playing in a more advanced role, because he has good vision and a good passing ability.  I just don't understand why he is played so deep, he's always out muscled there.  I think he still needs some time like Babel to get used to the league.

How can people judge Lucas just yet?! I agree he looked way off the pace, but give the lad some credit for God's sake. He's what, 20/21? First season in the Premier League - he's still getting to grips with the game and he's barely played in this formation, let alone alongside Alonso, not every player can grasp the Premier League as quick as Torres.

Babel looks fantastic - again, he made some bad errors today but still give the lad some credit. He's been played way out of position. Him and Kuyt showed very good ability throughout the game.

Skrtel looked excellent today too. Great buy I must say. He'll develop into a v.good player. Shall be nice to see what he's like alongside Agger eventually...

You don't think he looked fantastic today though mate do you? If you do I would disagree with that completely as I thought he looked anything but.

I would agree with you on Lucas though, although at times he too was poor today. The thing is with Lucas, you just get little glimpses, little flashes of something. A bit of vision here, a nifty little sidestep there, a first time lay-off now and then which exudes quality. The thing which really caught my eye about him today (and there's always something with this little fecker  :D ) was the one where he almost got the header in from Gerrards set-piece (I can't remember whether it was a corner or a free-kick to tell the truth). He kind of ducked in behind his marker and then out, almost Fowler style and then really attacked it with gusto. Only a fantastic defensive header from Carsley prevented him scoring. For such a little fella it was a sight to see.

The feeling persists with him that there is a footballer within him trying to get out, and if it ever happens he'll be a very good one. Whether it will or not though, that's another thing but my feeling is positive towards him.

Babel, despite having some ability I'm not so sure about as time goes on TBPH.

About as much as London misses the plague !

Im liking kuyt in this position, hes not a bad crosser and as mentioned he does all the dirty work. Could have a future after all !

Mick, there was another glimpse when Lucas had the ball and two everton players closed him down, he held the ball then cheekly passed it between them (in the second half that was), the lad has potential, he looks good and I hope he starts building some confidence and adjust to the premiership.

Sure , Lucas is 20/21

he is not even on the same planet as Gerrrard at 20/21

or Vieira at 20/21

or Fabregas - younger than him I believe?

Great players show their quality CONSISTENTLY by age 21 ..he will not ever be as good as the above and that is the level of player we need to get not someone with the odd flashes..they can go to mid table teams.

I have seen enough this season to decide that he is not top 4 quality certainly not in this league at it's frenetic pace.

Maybe he'll prove me wrong but I am 99% confident he won't.

I'm very happy form our performance, all the players played well generally and what made me really feel more happy watching our small players doing a great job with the team as skertel, lucus and babel although babel wasn't great today but i thing these chances in such kind of games give him the confidence and i can bet that babel is gonna be one of anfield's stars if had the whole chance and he won't let rafa down

True mate, but you know he hasn't got many games as he hoped for this season, I just think i'm going to be patient on this one, see if he can adjust to the pace of the premiership. He can turn out to be an excellent player or a no body, time will tell
