Swop deal with ajax maybe huntelaar? Highly unlikely though and huntelaar is also slightly unproven may flop in the prem.

it's true though what you say about it being a gamble. in a way, every signing that you make is a gamble. this kid could turn out to be a van persie or he could turn out to be a kezman. we just don't know.

if i had to guess i'd say the former. he's the closest thing i've seen to van nistelrooy in recent years and he even displaced van nistelrooy in the dutch national team under van basten. ok he won't give you even half the workrate that kuyt does but that's not his game. he's an out and out finisher.

he's also been linked with a move away from holland for ariound 18 months now so i think he'll be on the move in the summer. don't know what he'd cost though.

I think Kuyt is what you see. Like was said a great engine, attitude and spirit. A finisher he is not but he is not too old to become one. If you think he is a "sh1t footballer" then you are clueless. A sh1t footballer is anyone on this forum (professional players aside) but not anyone that plays as a pro in the EPL. To say so is idiotic and afterall he is in the Dutch team wether a starter or not.

With all his critisim I decided to play close attention to his play the last few games. He saves our bacon an many occasions by getting back and defending and regaining possession. He is probably the best "team player" we have and the hardest worker. His technical skills are good and he does hold the ball up well. What he lacks is flair and that is all (and that could well be due to Raffa's instructions). Had he put away a few more of his chances (afterall scoring and missing is seperated by mere inches) then all the idiots calling him sh1t would be singing his praises.

I am not a particular fan of Kuyt (aside from the fact he is a Liverpool player, I am in agreement with Saint that we need a creative second striker rather than one that defends well) but I see what he does and get irritated hearing everyone say he is sh1t. He is not and I think 90% of Kuyt is game is following his coach's instructions other wise why would Raffa continue to play him.

It is too easy to talk sh1t, but does not make you correct.

But seriously, his touch isn't terrible, i'd say it is fairly average like much of his game. He just isn't quite up to this level for me, at least not at Liverpool where teams sit back and demand we do something special to score. For me it's very similar to Sissoko's situation, they are both good players who aren't quite up to it but would do very well at a lower table side where expectations are less and the opposition come out and play a bit more.

Gimme a break. He is one of the slowest strikers in the whole league. He has a terrible 1st touch, poor creativity and can't ever pass a defender by himself.

At 1st glance he has a few goals but if you look into it it makes for a dire reading.

2 goals vs an already beaten 2nd rate "To loose". ZZZZ

2 penalties vs the blueshite of none which he was the cause of. Wow, 2 penalties. Why not let finnan take them to bloat his goalscoring...

He has been awful this season. Not saying Voronin or Crouch has been much better but considering the cost and playing time of Kuyt makes it even less fun.

If you would look at a stiker by class Kuyt would have 0.
There is nothing there to suggest Kuyt will all of a sudden run faster and make things happen. The sooner Rafa admits his mistake(which he so far has done) the better.

And yes, he might be a nice bloke, but I do prefer that they have the quality on the field...

And "Kuyt has been a bit of a dissapointment" must be the understatement of the year even if it just a new year.

He has been horrible, end of. He is not an awful footballer, just a limited one which is not even close to what Liverpool FC need.
Why must it be so hard to see?
Especially this season when he has someone by his side who actually does have quality as a striker. Even in comparison knowing what Torres did cost I would still think Kuyt was a freebie like Voronin.

The difference between our strikers is mindblowing.
