DANIEL AGGER - Official Thread

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby alwayslfc » Mon Mar 14, 2011 2:10 am

I have no doubt Danny Agger is an excellent defender that Lvp badly needs. However he's too injury prone and is only available for selection about 1/2 the time. So I don't think it's a good idea to keep him for the long haul, sad to say.

i realize most of your posts lately have been encouraging the sale of players and to replace them with the so called bright lights of football. maybe you play too much of FM, but i'm glad you aren't our manager. otherwise we wouldn't have a starting 11 by now.

Doesnt make sense really as i wouldnt sell them without replacing them, common sense you see. I even said in the post id replace them but i guess when all your interested in is constantly having a go at every thing i say you forget the lttle details like that.

Cant understand the obsession with FM digs all the time seriously ive never played the games and its not like im saying get in Messi, Xavi and Ineista in the summer. If you look my posts whenever i talk about what players to bring in its always realistic in terms of money and the alot of the players saying theyd want to play for us.

If it was up 2 you we wouldnt have a starting 11 coz half of them would be injuried.

See we can all have little pathetic digs at each other

Agreed, let's sell agger and play some 16 year old instead.

On a serious note, I think Agger is best paired with a dominant center half and we can see going forward even more. I do think his defensive abilities are limited (vulnerable in the air, light weight) but you can't deny that he is a very good ball playing defender and a good footballer. When he  was fit this season he looked solid and consistent.

No again didnt say that. I was thinking someone more like Mertesacker, Sakho or Subotic but again if all you 2 little girls want to do is W*nk each other off by having a go at the same person i guess you can keep making :censored: up.

There there, no need to resort to name calling

You advocated that we should play Suso, Sterling and Pacheco instead of Maxi and Cole, and sell Gerrard, who is one of our best players and replace him with some Belgian player who is unheard of, so no wonder why some people don't take your posts so seriously.

Steven DeFour unheard of? ok shows your knowledge of the game i guess. Keep advocating the purchases of the Cahills and Shawcrosses of this world that will make you popular with the right wingers on here. Thats why i never take most people seriously on here cause we get linked with someone outside the premiership and its aways "never heard of him is he any good" or "never seen him play" yet when someone who does watch football on a regular basis outside the prem suggests a player that could fit in the team their ridiculed by the very same people who havent even seen them play. Afew people over the last week have said theyve never heard of Alexis Sanchez........................enough said.

I do say replace the :censored: like Maxi, Cole and Jova that constantly let us down with the youngsters so what? Whats the worse that can happen seriously?  but i never said replace Agger with a 16 year old or replace Gerrard with a 16 year old. Ive also said in the past we dont need to buy a Gerrard MkII we can replace him with 2 players ala Torres. But these are other things you seem to miss out on when having a dig.

I disagree with plenty of opinions on here but i dont put words into thier mouths or just pretend they never wrote anything if it goes against what i want to have a go at them for. I also use my common sense before replying to a post. Something you could learn from.

Advocating the possibly signing of an unheard foriegner? careful mate some of the more "knowledgable" supporters on here will crucify you.

Pablo I partially agree with you.  I think Defour would be a great signing, and like you said, Alexis Sancez in a Liverpool jersey.. my pants wouldn't stay dry for long.   :D

Agger isn't always fit either.  I love Agger, I think he's a great player, but he isn't always available.  I don't think we need to replace Agger, but at the same time we need to replace Agger.  The best clubs in the world have back ups who could start on just about any other team, and that's where we need to be.  Don't sell Agger, buy buy Simon Kjaer and Per Mertesacker, then we have 3 very talented CBs. When one of the gets injured, We have a back up.  Even Carra still has a year or 2 left. Soto puts in good performances sometimes too, so we would finally have a bit of depth in our squad.

It's been very disappointing that Agger's been injured, but I think he's been one of our best players this year.  No need to sell him, but we do need to buy somebody else.

Wolfsburd have said that Kjaer is available this summer.  Especially considering they are possibly going to get relegated, he'd want to leave.  Werder Bremen are in the same position.  One of my friends is a Werder Bremen fan and I always tell him that I'm just hoping they get relegated so we can have a shot at buying Mertsacker and Marko Marin.  Probably not the nicest thing to say  :p

Simon Kjaer has been truly woeful for Wolfsburg since his move from Serie A. He had a once in a lifetime season when he was in Serie A and suddenly everyone started creaming their kecks about him. In a faster paced Bundesliga he has been found wanting, he had a stinking World Cup, and has not performed any better than Martin Skrtel has for us this season albeit in a different league.

:p

Not sure if we would get any kind of decent £££ if we were to try and sell Agger given his record of injuries over the past 2-3 seasons. It's a real shame as alongside Carra they would form a solid CB partnership. It just hasn't happened for him yet at Anfield and I am starting to doubt whether it ever will :(

Im in the same boat when it comes to Agger i think hes on of the best but unfortunately hes too injury prone. Some people seem to think i dont rate him or i wont to replace him with a 16 year old? ???  Id be more then happy to keep him aslong as we bought two top quality defenders. It wouldnt be as big a problem if or plan B werent Skrtel and Soto.

doesn't just sum up our season... it sums up daniel agger unfortuntely!   :(

Really hightens the need for a real top class commanding centre half.

Agger starts for Liverpool over the last 5 seasons: 14, 31, 22, 5, 28

Caras starts for Liverpool over the last 5 seasons: 27*, 48, 51, 50, 49   *so far

Only once has agger made it to 30 starts in one season for Liverpool - and that includes all cup games. It's just not good enough. Great to have as a back up, but he can not be relied upon to form a cornerstone of our back four for the next few years.

We NEED a top quality CB. FAST.

I'm sorry but the lad is an accident waiting to happen. He's such a strong player and yet no doubt we are paying extortionate wages out to someone who's only available half the time. Now this... My patience has finally ran dry. GET RID!!!
