Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I personally, think that the fact that he is a massive fan of the club would probably motivate him to be more improved and hardworking on and off the pitch. He has signed for the club he loves and I would think that he would in no way want to leave Anfield.

The Craig Bellamy that once graced the covers of newspapers for his bootroom shows may have gone.

Put yourselves in his shoes.

If you had just signed for Liverpool, wouldnt YOU give your all?

u say that im talkin out of my a.r.s.e, coz i said he dont score agaist the good teams, then u go and prove my point by showing me one good team he scored against! one of his goals vs Chelsea was a penalty anyway. He only scored 13 league goals for blackburn (his best premiership tally) yet u think he will somehow turn into a 20 league goals a season striker.

WTF does scoring against good teams have to do with being a good player anyway. Gary FCKING Breen scored against Chelsea and he is a donkey. Point is that he is effective against top sides which this proves:

On days like these, it is a wonder why anyone would risk falling out with Craig Bellamy. The Wales striker was a menace to United's defence throughout. The only pity for Blackburn was that he was the man providing the chances, rather than getting the opportunity to finish them off.  On three separate occasions, Bellamy's strike partner Paul Dickov found himself in a one-on-one confrontation with Edwin van der Sar. Every time he came off second best.

2) Arsenal 3, Blackburn 0 (Nov. 26, 2005)

However, Blackburn started to pose serious problems for Arsenal's defence, with Bellamy emerging as their chief tormentor, while Shefki Kuqi and Morten Gamst Pedersen also came close.

Bellamy forced Lehmann into a smart reaction save with a snap-shot, before Toure headed his follow-up effort over the bar and the Welshman also nipped ahead of Toure to divert a long ball by Lucas Neill just past the post...

...Hughes brought on David Thompson to replace Brett Emerton, but it was still Bellamy who remained his side's main threat, clipping the outside of the post with a header from Pedersen's cross.

Lehmann was nevertheless equal to the Blackburn challenge, tipping Pedersen's inswinging corner over the bar, twice foiling Thompson and then racing out to beat Bellamy to a through-ball.

3) Blackburn 1, Arsenal 0 (Feb. 25, 2006)

The Gunners' majestic Champions League victory against Real Madrid in midweek seemed a million miles away as Pedersen side-footed home from close range in the 18th minute after Craig Bellamy had out-muscled Philippe Senderos to get to the byline.

Anyway, I don't think we necessarily need a 20 goals a season striker because we have always relied on our mid for a good portion of goals. What we need is someone to break down the likes of Manchester U, Chelski, Arsenal, and even Tottenham. Bellamy has proved he can do that this with Blackburn. Imagine what he can do with better players supporting him.

:nod   anyway you know i am right. You are just stubborn

Welcome Bellamy.

Same here. He's a Liverpool player now..

IMHO, Benitez has made a right choice in buying Bellamy to boost our firepower for next season.

Benitez is planning to challenge the EPL next season and he will need all sorts of striker to give him more option upfront.

Liverpool has a decent strike force and he needs to improve it to give us a little bit of variety in facing different kinds of situation.

Crouch - a good targetman, holds the ball well
Fowler - a good finisher and a box predator
Bellamy - a pacy forward, takes on defender, create openings

What we need now is a final COMPLETE striker that can give us 20+ goal a season (of course we got to sell Cisse before we buy a new one..) :D

I still think football is abt team work. If we have a 20 goals striker , that's a bonus . What we need is to play simple, smart football and every "dept" can score goals. From defenders to the strikers.

I cannot understand all these people saying that Bellamy will only score 12-15 goals for us next season.....he scored 17 in 26 games for Blackburn last season. If he stays injury free he is likely to play over 40 games for us, maybe 50. So what are we saying? Blackburn provide Bellamy with better opportunities to score? He will not try as hard for Liverpool as he did for the Rovers? Mark hughes is a better manager who can get more out of a player than Rafa could?
Totall b0ll0cks......If he stays fit and plays there is no reason Craig bellamy cannot score 30 goals for us next season. I know it is easy to get carried away with new signings and I am also aware that EVERY signing is a gamble but I am a glass half full kinda guy and in Craig Bellamy I see many good qualities as a footballer.
Of course questions remain, mainly about his fitness and attitude but I am confident in the man management skills of Rafa and with luck in the injury department he should do very well for us.
I really am looking forward to seeing some of the people on here eat their words in a few months, going to be quite funny.

Of course football is all about teamwork, but a 20 goals striker can make a hell lot of difference between a mid table team and a top team.

Liverpool play a simple and direct passing game but we always have to rely on our midfielders to put them in. Imagine the damage we can inflict to others if we have a goal poacher plus our attacking midfield (spearhead by Gerrard).

agree completly, Bellamy is no where near a top class player. Can anyone actually see this guy scoring goals agaist the top sides in the premiership and the champions league. Right now we need a TOP class striker who can score at least 15+ league goals a season, Bellamy is not that player. Im pretty sure Benitez knows this, so he must have another striker lined up for us to sign. Bellamy is a replacement for Cisse, to have as a pacey option.

Okay here it is-------Drivel

Is it not completely obvious that we need a top class striker. I wish it were as simple as driving to Highbury and picking up Henry but it is much more difficult than that. Fact is that there are no top class strikers on the market right now in Liverpool's price range.

I knew you were talking out of your arrse when you said , "Can anyone here see Bellamy scoring against top sides". Just proves you really haven't watched him much this year. He dropped two against Chelsea in one game and although he didn't score, he was dynamite against Arsenal and Man Utd. Why the hell do you think so many Blackburn fans have come on here to lament his leaving.

And as for making a coherent argument, I have done that in support of Bellers on the first 19 pages of this thread. You can go back and find them if you wish to know why I think Bellamy will succeed.

Im telling ya for the last time, a better striker than Bellamy is not available right now and 6m pounds is a great price.

GOOD DAY

why do you keep saying ''GOOD DAY''

are you an Oz ? , shouldnt it be G'Day  :D

Even if he is not a world class striker like some are saying, I'm confident that Rafa will make him be one. Remember the likes of Biscan, Traore... Obviously Bellamy is far much better than them but i still remember the progession Igor Biscan made under the coaching of Rafael Benitez.

Really glad this deal is tied up, I think Bellamy can do really well here.

People harp on about the lack of goals being our major problem last year.  The way I look at it is that the lack of goals was a direct result of our inability to get in behind teams in tight games due to an appauling lack of pace in attacking positions.

With Bellamy, Gonzalez and probably Alves in the squad, who are all flying machines, we will stretch teams a lot more, they will have to defend even deeper against us and then that will allow the likes of Crouch, Fowler and Garcia etc to get closer to goal and have more effect.  Ideally I'd also like a 4th striker on board in addition to Fowler, Crouch and Bellamy, but even at the 3 new signings I've mentioned that would make a massive difference to us.

fvcking hell i wish people would just give the lad a chance. "not good enough to play for Liverpool" oh yeah we've had an awsome strike force latley, Bellamy will probably be on the bench most of the season. I know people want a big name but big names (Morientes) do not automatically mean goals.  If we went and bought another big name player that would be £25m plus the fact that they haven't played in the Premiership a la Morientes would worry me. We have a lad who has proved he can score the goals in the Premeirship and we have him for £6m. He has got an eye for goal that Cisse (£14m) and Crouch (£8m) haven't got only Fowler has.

im excited by the prospect and i look forward to him ramming all the doubters words back down their throats.
