2 i think.

anyway city can go jump. he's not for sale at any price. skrtel i could get over us losing but not agger. agger is far more difficult to replace.

He said that he wouldn't go to any of our rivals, so unless we want him to, he ain't leaving.

@Tony Barrett
Daniel Agger's agent quoted as saying Agger isn't injured and says his omission from #LFC squad is down to the manager and club. Interesting.

Don't like the look of this at all.

The centre-back was left out of the Anfield club's squad for Thursday evening's Europa League qualifier against FC Gomel and that sparked extra speculation.

Sky Sports sources on Tuesday had revealed Liverpool had rejected two bids from City for Agger and further reports had since suggested the Dane handed in a transfer request.

Agger's agent, Per Steffensen, on Thursday night did little to calm the situation by announcing his client was 'not injured in any way' before the Gomel game.

Up to speed

But Rodgers is adamant the injury-prone centre-back was only absent in Belarus due to fitness issues, as he said: "The plan was always for Daniel to stay behind.

"Everyone knows his history of injuries. He came back to pre-season training after everyone else and is still not up to speed.

"He is fit but I have to make sure he is up to speed before he plays, because everyone knows his history with injuries."

Agger is under contract with Liverpool until the summer of June 2014 and earlier this summer he admitted he would welcome the chance to discuss a new deal.

City could therefore find it difficult to convince their Premier League rivals to sell and reports have suggested the English champions are instead looking at Marseille's Nicolas N'Koulou.

From skysports.

Notice how he mentioned twice" everyone knows his history with injuries" as if trying to scare City away knowing Agger wants to go. Clever move from the manager if so.

What a player says and what a player does are two entirely different things. If Agger is offered a chance to play for Manchester City and is offered a ridiculous wage packet, it will be very hard for him to turn that down and I for one wouldn't blame him for going ahead with it. There are times in life where you have to put yourself first. What will get my back up is if Agger does an Owen/Torres and leads us down the garden path and then sods off leaving is in the lurch.

I also find it highly suspicious that he was left out of the squad to face Gomel last night - it's pretty convenient that this happens shortly after City are reported to have had 2 bids for Agger rejected. Could it be that Agger's head has been turned and he wants out?

i noticed mascherano has been waxing lyrical about agger in the spanish press, starting to fear the worst here, i think he could well be gone.
i suppose we`ll bring a swansea or chelsea youth team player in to replace him  :glare:

So far the players who have left are players who are getting on, not our first team players and earning relatively high wages, Maxi and Kuyt, and a player who never wanted to play for us, Aquilani. Sounds very logical to move them on IMHO. You have to realise it is a time of transition with a new manager. The new manager should be given the chance to build his own team. I wouldn't mind even if we sell Carroll, if it means the arrival of Allen, Dempsey and Ramirez. But I'm sure the OMG-the-owners-are-selling-our-best-players brigade will even cry louder if that happens...

to me the players that should be kept are Reina, Agger, Kelly, Johnson, Coates, Enrique, Gerrard, Lucas (barely) and Suarez... that's about it... the rest IMHO are replaceable and if we find a better option we should replace them... of course I'm not advocating to replace them at one go...

we better be able to hold on to the likes of Sterling and Suso as well or we'll be the laughing stock and classed in the same league as Arsenal :(
