I just want to say a quick thank you to Rafa. He's been here through thick and thin with these two w@nkers at the top. He's never wavered, never walked away and stood and took some sh!t in the face of hostility, fom the media and our own. Love him or hate him he's been absolutely fantastic the last three years and credit for not ditching us because he could have done it countless times, instead he chose to fight the good fight. It's times like these you realise that he's a credit to this club, he's probably put up with as much sh!te as we have from T&T. Thank you RB, You'll Never Walk Alone :)

God bless him, he looks chuffed on SSN  :D

Yeah good shout. The guy has had to work with his hands tied behind his back for years now and still managed to turn us into one of the best teams in Europe. I know with the right money in place he can put us back at the top of the premiership - where we belong, and knock utd of their :censored: perch.
My new blog for my upcoming holiday.

Happy Birthday Rafa , what a Birthday present !
:bowdown
Hope Rafa  and Montse have a really special night , they have been fantastic for this club , many managers would have walked long ago and many wives would have insisted they did , rather than put up with all the cr*p that has surrounded this club since the 2 Twits took charge.
So I would also like to say a big thankyou to  Montse  for supporting Rafa and not pressurising him to go. YNWA.

Martin Broughton backs Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez

New Liverpool chairman Martin Broughton has pledged his support to boss Rafael Benitez and insists it is not necessary for the club to sell any players.

Liverpool owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett Jr put the club up for sale on Friday and appointed British Airways boss Broughton to oversee the process.

"Benitez's position is unchanged. He is contracted to the club and we want him to stay," Broughton told BBC Sport.

"There's no need for any sales. There will be no fire sales."

In light of the club's financial situation, there was concern among supporters that Benitez - who is contracted to the club until 2014 but has often voiced frustration at a lack of transfer funds - and star players such as midfielder Steven Gerrard and striker Fernando Torres may leave.

Broughton has moved quickly to dismiss this, saying: "As far as the manager is concerned I don't think it is any different from the players or the fans. This is clarity and a brand new future for Liverpool.

606: DEBATE
With most of the anger now being tempered with the Yanks seemingly eventually going will Rafa enjoy the same support he's had in the past?

"It is giving everybody involved with the club the comfort of knowing that there is a strong future at Liverpool."

Liverpool are £237m in debt and have been seeking £100m of outside investment to satisfy a request from the club's principal creditor, Royal Bank of Scotland.

Broughton added to the earlier statement from the club, which explained that the move to sell has the "full support of the existing bankers".

"RBS understands it doesn't help the process to have leverage in the hands of buyers because there is a looming deadline," he said. "We have plenty of time to do the deal.

"There has been a lot of interest, there will be a lot of interest, but we will not be making any further comment until an announcement is made about a buyer."

Co-owners Hicks and Gillett have endured a difficult time at Liverpool since taking over at Anfield in March 2007, not least with supporters who grew increasingly disillusioned at the amount of debt taken on by the club.

Two of Liverpool's chief rivals in the Premier League - Chelsea and Manchester United - are also saddled with large debt and Broughton admitted that while clubs are capable of carrying this it was an issue that needed reassessing.

"Liverpool are capable of carrying a sensible amount of debt but it has got to be within reason," he said.

"I think it's right for the appropriate parties to think about whether there should be restrictions on debt and what they should be."

I agree, 100%. Challenge, yes. Possibly. We've proven it. The side took a dent in the summer, Rafa took risks, made mistakes, but I think with proper investment we'd have kicked on or at the very least looked like challenging again, at be already qualified for the CL at a minimum. Aquilani could turn out to be the player Rafa gambled on this season and lost out on due to poor judgement on his recovery. We need a better player than Kuyt for the right wing and another forward and a left sided player. That'll take some proper money, but if it's given then I can see this team getting back on form like you say. Totally agree there.

Don't enagage with these ER - It's big sam for these.

Happy Birthday Rafa lid!!

If anyone is hoping he will leave now you will be very disappointed as he has wanted the sale of our club even longer than we have wanted it so expect him to stick around and wait for the new cash injection which will allow him to buy the Quaallity :D  players he has wanted all along ie Silva and Villa etc.

  So you DON'T believe we have a good team and you believe the best manager that would be willing to come to our club is Fat Sam

I prefer to support the team, believe we will do better next season and believe we would get a top manager that has the ambition to win the league,

Takes all sorts though even people who put the manager above the club.

If the Liverpool managers job is available they will be queing a mile long to take it and thats the best managers in the world. Honest to God we have had some bad times of late but even that will not stop us appointing a top, top class manager. Rafa aint my cup of tea but hes stuck in there because he knows damn well is a coveted position and hes on a mint contract. For all his faults I give him his due he knows hes at  a top club and is reluctant to move on. Fear not that we will have to settle for second best on the managerial front because despite the turmoil Liverpool FC will have the pick of the managerial talent make no mistake.
