my thoughts exactly :D

I don't think Rafa has ever been one to be tempted to riches. At the time he was considering us Beskitas offered him more than what we did and he has been courted by Real on a number of occasions. He is more inclined to look at if the job is a long term project as he will obviously be uprooting his family from life in Liverpool.

but he wont be as restricted as he apparently is now when it comes to player transfers so the Juve offer might be tempting.

I don't think Juventus have that much money to spend either though and in an interview I read this season Rafa's wife has a lot to say over the matter with the kids education being one of the main factors.

When we perform as badly was we did against Wolves, you want that to be acknowledged by the man in charge so you can feel assured that it's going to put it right. You want to hear something more constuctive, forthright, and perhaps honest to break up the monotony associated with our performances this season.

To be honest with Rafa even when we were playing brilliant football last season he was quick to point out that we need to improve in areas not heaping to much praise on the players and now vice versa with us playing so bad he doesn't need to be sticking the knife in when he sees that we need to build confidence.

(by the way just of the subject, has anyone seen Terry venables Rafa Goaty? :D )

Loyalty can have a destructive path if followed blindly to spite the owners. The fact our owners gave Rafa a new contract IMO was down to the relationship he has with the our fans. They have ruffled enough feathers and I believe in an attempt to keep some happy gave Rafa a new contract.

Be careful what you wish for, if Rafa had any REAL loyal fans and real allies they wouldn't let him continue on, to be the preverbial lamb to slaughter. A loyal allie would tell Rafa that enough is enough, 'we've stood in your corner we've backed you all the way, now is the time to live and let go'.

No real fan would let him walk into a footballing abyss.

Not only that but several players were due to sign new contracts too (Torres & Kuyt).

Not saying they wouldn't have signed but im sure it would have created more nonsense media jizz not to mention Madrid would have stepped up their pursuit big time.

It's seems a lot of you think Rafa is about to walk or get the boot? Not a chance. The owners won't get trigger happy unless or until it looks like that champions league pot of gold is gone (or going)  for next season. Even if we continued playing dogged, scruffy, bl.oody ugly football (like last night) I fancy we will still be in the mix for 4th place come the final weeks of the season so I think i'd get my head around the fact that Rafa is here for the rest of the season.

Not a chance.

We won't get fourth there are many better teams than us capable of nicking fourth.

How ever you look at it, we are 3 points away from 4th spot.

I prefer to say 13th from top, and played a game more... not good enough

I look at the fact that our on field performances are the worst I can remember. We're not able to string any results together, the players look lost, so does the manager.

Hence the reason why I don't think we'll finnish fourth.

So at the start of the season you thought we were going to win the league and that nothing else was acceptable? I'm not trying to say that we are having a good season it's plain that infact were having a pretty poor season, but a more than halfway through a rubbish season and still in with a decent shout at getting 4th spot. Life could be worse.
Don't get me wrong, we have not been good enough this year and if there are no decent players coming in in the summer, next year could be even worse. But there are positives to been seen, namely we can get into the top 4 and make sure were not uber skint for the summer.

I also think we are witnessing the worst football in a long time.

But I think our players and our manager are capable of coming back from that situation and play to a level of football we have known for the last years.

And that's the reason why I think we'll get in the fourth place, because playing awfully we're 3 points off that position, and because I truly think we can only improve from this position. It's difficult to play so wrong for so much time.

If the players and the manager are together, they will improve.

If Rafa has lost the trust of the players, then he should go. But I'm not aware of that and I'm not a body language interpreter.

thats fair enough and, for the sake of the team I hope your right.

What's the word in Spain on Rafa's performance this season ? Surely Real Madrid are thanking themselves that they didn't try too hard to poach him ?
