Dirk kuyt - Peace everyone

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

It's worth mentioning that Dirk's now on 13 goals and 8 assists in all competitions this season.  Almost had another assist today as well, but Torres hit the bar with his header following an excellent cross from Dirk.  I was one of those that insisted we needed better down the right and even felt that we should be looking to flog him off in the summer.  Well, I called it wrong.  Selling Dirk would be folly and I'm no longer nearly as convinced as I once was that we'd do better with someone else playing down the right.  Good on ya, Dirk.

I hold my hands up on Dirky. I slated the lad a fair bit last season and a bit this season, but he is proving me wrong. I always wanted him to, I always knew he worked his backside off and knew he was a top bloke who loved this club, but I didnt think he was good enough. I for one im delighted to be able to be eating a bit of humble pie on this one. Keep it up Dirk lad.

Is he really up there with torres?

Nope, nowhere near. But every team also needs the workhorse.
Look at players like Park and Fletcher at Manure... wouldn't make our subs bench, but in the right system are used as vasluable players.

Park and Fletcher wouldn't make our subs bench would they??? Yeah well that's right we have the might of Babel and Eggnog don't we :Oo:  . You don't half talk some :censored: sometimes, Park is a fantastic player and so is Fletcher I'd sign both of them if given the chance and never mind the bench I'd have them starting a fair few matches.

Good old Dirk. His first touch at times was poor but he was in the right place at the right time on more than 1 occasion and got 2 goals for reward. Im really happy with him this season. The guy is a machine, does he ever get tired!

always been a fan of dirks (although i had a rash drunken rant about him a few months back) and hes been great this season after a poor second season whitch i think had alot to do with the death of his father hes bounced back and made an unfamiliar position his own (although id still prefer benny in the side)he had a knack for scoring goals in holland and i reckon hes finally found his shooting boots for us

13goals from open play and 8 assists not many wingers can boast that return, long may it continue and although i would love us to sign 2world class wingers if thats not possible i wont complain at seeing dirks name on the teamsheet everyweek

well done dirk :D

Park and Fletcher prove that even clubs with a few £20m-£30m players have some workers in their side. Fletcher almost certainly is more consistent than Lucas but then he is 25 compared to Lucas' 22 and a lot more experienced in the top flight. Park isn't a bad player, but he's near 28 and neither would make our best XI.

But neither Park nor Fletcher is so much better than anything we have in reserve that we should covet manc players. I can understand wanting Heinze or Tevez, they are quality enough to command a starting place, but Park and Fletcher aren't best XI material for either club. Kuyt p1sses over both of them, and in the role that he's only been playing for around 14 months. Those two mancs are at best steady eddies, neither half the match winner Kuyt often proves. fergie might ask £5m-£7m for either of his players, we'd be fools to sell Kuyt for anything less than £13m - perhaps that reinforces my view that we'd have to pay a lot to buy a better RM. The likes of Lennon, Downing and other wide players we've been linked with would do well to produce what Kuyt does, we'd be lucky to get them for less than £12-£15m each. If we want better than Kuyt, we're liable to have to pay £18m+ and hope, or Rafa find an absolute bargain abroad - not a Rafa strong point
Never buy from PC World, product quality is poor and their 'customer service' is even poorer

The two goals he got the other day were the sort of goals I'd like to see him getting more of. Very good anticipation on his part and in many ways the sort of goals that Michael Owen used to regularly get.
