Then, why do we insist on moving him up top? He is absolutely awful up front IMHO, far far better at right midfield and I wonder how many times he has to prove that he absolutely hates it up front (you can visibly see him shrink into his shell once he's put up there) before we decide to leave him in his best position. Notwithstanding the overhit pass, he does a goodish job on the right. Please though, spare the poor bloke and the poor fans the travesty of having to watch him play up front. Enough of that idea already.
He's absoloutely rubbish and no premier league team will win a title with him as a regular starter.
El Zhar's a better player.
Imagine seeing El Zhar on the right with Alonso and Gerrard in the middle and Riera on the left with two strikers... maybe we actually might beat these sides that are there for the taking... why would we want to do that though?
Lets just keep taking players off and doing stupid

things and playing rubbish.

Stalking me round the forum acting like a fool. You contribute nothing to this forum Leon, seriously. You used to occassionally post something insightful and intelligent. Now all ya do is try and bait people and think you're some sort of hilairious sarcastic funny man. You aren't, you're just boring. You're so far up Rafa's
you can't even see the faults with our own players and team and god forbid anyone who has a go at Benitez for playing his best players out of position, playing rubbish players and signing
when we have kids who are clearly better.

I never once said I was better than Danny Murphy.
I also never worked as a YTS special constuble.
You are funny though Leon. I must admit, the interest you catch with your excellent well thought out posts and excellent use of sarcasm is a joy to read. Your opinions always light up the forum and are well thought out arguements.
Even if I do look like a pleb, an lets be honest, who really gives a
anyway (apart from you) its better than actually being one.

Also Mellor is a questionable example of 'better', plying his trade for Preston NE in the second tier of English football, who've never graced the Premiership and don't look likely to. (assuming you're commenting on the four players claimed to be worse than the players 'above' them) Not entirely sure whether N'Gog and Lucas will last long enough to have a future at Anfield let alone a brilliant one
Also I thought Spearing and Darby are still at Anfield, or was I dreaming they came on against PSV the other game?

Its time for Kuyt to be benched, he has been poor in the last 4 games or so, and its time to play 2 upfront, Keane and Torres.

He should never have been moved back up front, he was pivotal in getting us where we are/were with his contribution from the right. Besides anything else, who would you play RM? Babel? Benayoun? Riera?
Doesn't help that Alonso is out injured. Kuyt hasn't been great up front, but he's our best RM and our problems yesterday and recently are less because he's not a good player, but because of the lackings in the squad. We also lost three strikers over the last year - Crouch sold, Kuyt converted to a RM and Voronin loaned out. We gained only Keane and N'Gog, neither of whom has filled in any more than adequately for Torres when injured. Rafa won't play Babel as a striker.
It's easy to say Kuyt hasn't been great, but to imply it's his fault we've not sparked and that Keane will suddenly spring to life is misguided to say the least. There were plenty as poor if not worse on the pitch last night. Also all but one of Keane's goals have come with Kuyt on the pitch, Torres has scored only that tap-in against PNE when Kuyt hasn't started................
Also don't see the logic in dropping one of our top scorers when Keane is hit and (mainly) miss and Torres is coming back from injury and that would leave only Gerrard as our other main source of goals. Put Kuyt back to RM where he belongs, it wasn't broke before Rafa tried fixing it

If it's not broken then why fix it...
Stick Kuyt back on the right and bring either Keane or Torres back upfront. It served us well in the first half of the season and I think Kuyt does a good job on the right. Better than Benayoun who is OK but wants to come inside all the time. There is ONE striker at our club who is suited to the lone striker role and it ain't Kuyt, Keane or Babel.
Granted that the 4-5-1 formation has served us well this season but ONLY when Torres is fit. We have to change things about if/when Torres isn't in the team. This is why I support the potential pursuit of Heskey (he could play upfront with Keane).

In Rafa's dictionary on Kuyt, there is no such word of Benching.
The word benching only applies to Keane and Pennant.

Its debatable about Keane (although this is a Kuyt thread), he scored 2 goals in 3 games between Arsenal and Bolton, while Kuyt didn't score in both games and looked really average (Kuyt was playing on the right against Arsenal), Keane was dropped and Kuyt was given a game. Surely, if Keane had a good run of games he would have had a bigger chance to hit top form and score goals.
I still don't like the idea of sticking Kuyt on the right, even in a 4-5-1 (maybe some will disagree) because we tend to lose the ball more on that side when Kuyt is playing (god bless Kuyt's first touch
). He has had his patch of good form, now he is back to what he was last season! Lets give El Zhar a chance to prove himself on the right, who I think offers alot more than Kuyt in that side, or keep Benayoun there, who has been in an excellent form in the last 3 or 4 games, bar Stoke.
However, although I think Kuyt is a weak link in our starting eleven, I still wouldn't mind sticking Kuyt up front with Keane or Torres in a 4-4-2 system, which Benitez should have used yesterday, though Kuyt at his best is a good squad player nothing more.
