Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I've since seen the game for a second time on my large plasma tv and Kuyt was poor first half - marginally better second, but his hard work and persistence in getting into the box led to several dangerous openings and ultimately the winning goal.

One moment cheering on the lad, the very next cursing his soul.

Does he score important goals?

Once again the bottom line for me is that he scored a vital goal and, thus, played a huge hand in us stealing the 3 points.  In my books, that buys him an exemption from criticism yesterday.

I never mentioned goals.

It's not just goals that sum up a player.

garcia did that also matey, but he aint at lfc anymore.

theres no doubt he is like a shire horse when it comes to workrate, but a donkey when it comes to skill

we could get a thousand players to score important goals like kuyt, and make them work hard, but at the end of the day, they are just not good enough in the skill department.

why the fuck cant some folk see that! it beggars belief, it really does.

Yeah, but does he deserve abuse for working his balls off for the shirt and scoring some very important goals? I think not. It's alright accepting that he's not a flair player with bags of skill, which he certainly isn't. He's never going to all of a sudden start to skin people with nutmegs and rap one in off the underside of the bar, so why expect him to? Half of the hypocrites that have consistently abused him certainly weren't spouting their bile when he put us into the CL, or when he scored the late winner against City. Fickle as f'ck football supporters are.

I think the word fickle is being mis-used here.

These people would be fivckle if they changed their opinion on Kuyt.

Fact is they're not - they're still saying he's inadequate.

I'm critical of Kuyt most times - but most the time I don't blame him personally.
He's a striker being played out of position.

While he's making a fair fist of it at the moment - he still lacks ball control, ability to beat a player
and the vision.
But now seems the wrong time to maon - we've had a great start so I'm gonna quite moaning.

Matt McQueen - Liverpool 1892-1928.
Only professional to - play in goal (41 appearances), Defence, Midfield, Striker, and later be Director and then to be Manager (winning a Championship) - at one club
