EVERTON vs LIVERPOOL: 27/09 12:45 k.o - The 208th Derby - Match Discussion here

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I think Gerrard and Lucas both need to play. Last year they both got Evertonians sent off while earning penalties. I would say a 2-0 lead against a 9 man Everton should be pretty safe.  :D   I would like to see Darby on the bench as the 7th sub. Couldn't think of a more dream introduction to the premier league than helping us hold onto a lead at goodison, plus Degen is hurt and Arbeloa hasn't been that impressive.

but my preferred formation would be

Arby      Carra        Skrtel    Dosenna

Gerrard   Alonso      Masch   Riera

             Torres      Keane.

comon you red men, 3-1!!! :buttrock

I would love to see that because we're going to need Mascherano in the middle for this one, but also Alonso to calm things down.  I just hope that Rafa doesn't put Gerrard in the middle, cause he'd probably go nuts like last yr and disrupt the team by running around like a headless chicken.

Hence why playing him in front of two dms in masher and xabi and behind torres would be perfect for him - a kind of free role for him and enable him to link up well again with torres . shove keane on the bench .

There is generally not an ounce of football played, zero flowing football, next to no fluent passing and the winning goal is almost always a scrappy affair where the final touch could come off any part of the scorers anatomy.

I cannot think of a football match which is better suited to our industrious Dutchman.

Yup, was about to say the same thing.
Ive said it before and i`ll say it again, our Dirk is a handy guy to have in a scrap.
Its becoming strangely easy to predict Rafa`s line ups, i recon he`ll go with this.

                                Reina

Arby               Carra              Skrtel               Aurelio (if fit)

                    Gerrard             Macsh
Kuyt                                                            Riera

                    Torres               Keane

I think Keane will open his account against Everton.  Torres chose an important game, so maybe Keane will follow his example.  Hoping for the best, probably 3-1 to us.  Or an intensely scary game that we win   2-1.

i can"t wait for this one either! this is the game where if any player with the liver bird on the chest doesn"t give blood, sweat & tears (tears of joy at the end) it takes me along time to forgive them.

this is the game, hopefully having won you can go out on sat night on top of the world, the beer tasting sweeter than ever etc.

my only slight conern is that mike (old mother ) rielly is the ref. i just don"t rate him as a top official
but that"s just imo, in such a mssive game i only hope he allows the derby to be played as it is & will always be played - passionate,no-nonese tackles, & advantage to be played when needed for us to ensure we batter the bitters!! i just hope the ref doesn"t bottle it, let the game flow, this is the derby that matters, & no room for players to bottle it either.

hopefully this is the game for robbie to break his duck! & stevie with the icing on the cake, & once again shake the ground that"s made of wood, i can"t wait. play to our strenghts & all will be fine.

Great post Hayesy

This is the one match i look forward to every season and its not a game for the faint hearted. Every player on Sat has to stand up an be counted. No shirkin out of tackles. Hit them first simple

Ive started already with my lad as hes a bluenose, we are going to the game together an ill be sittin in the Gladys Street with him an a few of his mates.  Ill just have to put up with the stink.

I totaly agree bad ref decision for this game an can see loads of yellows an poss a red being issued

But we will win :nod

I agree with Bigmick that this is the kind of game for Kuyt, where you don't need any real footballing talent except to run around for 90 minutes and pester the opposition and get stuck in. I actually think we will win this with Kuyt getting the goal, maybe off his feet or head.  :D
