LIVERPOOL VS EVERTON - Merseyside derby

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Meh! Never a doubt. We were comfortable. Bit scrappy, but comfortable. We were poor in the second half, but everton lived up to their name of being the Blue Sh*te. They were awful.

I thought Crouch was MOTM. He played well when he came on.

It was a poor second half performance by us, but still - they only had one chance all game (Osman's header).

Job done, bragging rights secured, 4th surely safe now.

Onward. :)

We played really well the first half and it was a good goal by torres. I don't know what happened in the second half, we didn't do so well.

Hyppia was outstanding today.

poor performance in the second half and was quite boring to watch... I just hope rafa works on the most obvious weakness in our game before the arsenal matches... defending set pieces and reina's inability to catch anything from crosses...

Great win, but it'd be unwise gettin' carried away thinking we've sealed 4th. As we've come to realise many times this season, things can go tits up pretty quick. The key is to keep Torres fit until the final game as we don't look like scoring without him.

That was one of the worst Derby matches I have seen ???

What was wrong with the bitters today, 4th place was up for grabs and they looked like they didn't want to know. "ifithadnofbeenforcahillsinjury"

We started the match like you would expect us to in a game that apparently meant so much to both teams, once we realised they didn't want to know and we got the goal we just eased off to save our energy. Nice to see Gerrard get Carsley back for his tackle on Torres

Made up with the win and the three points but we would have had more of a test playing a lower league team in a friendly, the bitters should hold their head in shame, at least we will have plenty left in our locker for the Arsenal game.

Yeah.......2nd half was a real bore.

Anyway we won......but hate to say it...but we don't have the players to excel in this 4-3-2-1 formation.

1)The bad -

Kuyt and Babel are an embarrassment on the wings. Babel might do a good job on the right  but on the left, the opposition players have found the way to neutralize him (ie...he always tries to bring the ball to his right foot).

As for Kuyt......no comments needed.

Alonso....if barcelona really wants to pay 15 million for him....i say just sell him. Lucas did exactly what alonso did.... and if alonso continues this way...it would be better to sell him.

2)The good  -

Riise has shown that he is our best left back....period. With him on the team, we defend way lot better on the set pieces (although we still look vulnerable in it). I don't care what others say, but riise is a better defender than auerlio. And thats more essential to a left back.

Gerrard - No comments needed...He is great as ever.

Skertel - Has proved that he is indeed a good purchase. He only had 2 bad games since he came here (his 1st match and against manure). Judge him next season...He will be a colossus like vidic for us.

Lucas - Neat player. But he doesn't look like a world beater i thought he would be (with all the hype about him winning player of the year in brazil)

Torres - No comments needed. 1 chance 1 goal.... Can't imagine what will we do if he is injured...

The ugly -
PHILIP NEVILLE.....................    .........  :p Loved it when he grabbed the windbreaker when he was subbed.....
