I agree RT, watch it again and its obvious the fella wasn't gonna win the ball. He had time to pull out of the challenge but was determined to take Lucas out. Don't blame him for that , but a yellow card was a natural consequence. For those that say "Lucas' foot was also high" ,it looked to me that Lucas got to the ball first and when he (Lucas) initially raised his foot the Inter player was still 3-4 feet away.

just watched it again the replay, he deserves the card IMO
he keeps on going on lucas feet while he could have avoided that

I'd go further than that Ace. Over the last couple of games I've noticed how time after time the fella just give's up when chasing a ball that looks as though it's going out of play , Kuyt may lack Babels skills but he at least would chase the ball into row z , Babel on the other hand does a bit of a sprint and, with the ball still in play, just gives it up. Kuyt may have been poor last night but Babel was a complete waste of space. For sometime now I've been thinking the fella's got no bottle.

Overall a thoroughly professional team performance , marred only by the sub par performances of Babel and Kuyt. Once again our lack of real quality in the wide positions was glaringly obvious.

Completely agree.  Babel's attitude has worried me for some time and it's not a part of a player's game that can be drilled in training or generally changed significantly.  I continue to have my doubts about this lad...

if no yellow had been issued before, he wouldve stayed on the field

dont see whats the problem

Watched the match at a mate's place last night and I can barely keep me eyes open this morning. The ONLY dissapointment for me, was that I couldn't get plastered as I had to work this morning.

The lads played brilliantly though we were a little pensive in the 1st half.
I suppose I could analyse this and be able to find something to comment about but frankly, right now..... I couldn't be @rsed.

Just basking in the glow of this win. One of the lads at work, whose a Manc btw, just muttered under his breath that he hopes they don't get us in the next round... That single utterance just made my whole effin day!  :D

What a goal by Torres by the way... class act!

You had two hours sleep? Thats quite hardcore. :D

Sorry Rushie.... Just noticed your post. Hardcore doesn't really describe it but it'll be a cold day in hell if I was gonna miss that match! Feckin Knackered right now and I'm hitting the hay.

Definate yellow card.
I said it before i knew Burdisso was on a yellow as well, as i wasnt even aware who had been booked.
If it was the other way round and Burdisso won the ball with Lucas taking him out in the same way this is what Andy Gray would of said......'stupid challenge for the lad to make when he is already on a yellow, we all know the European referees will give yellow cards for challenges like that'

But as it went for us it was a ridiculous yellow card  :D

Then within a minute Mascherano and Zanetti had a decent tussle where Zanetti went down, Gray then blurts out....surely he should be carded for pulling him back.

If thats not biased what is ?
You could hear the disappointment in his voice even in the first half when Ibrahimovic wasted a couple of free kicks, like he was willing us to concede.
He was that biased at first it annoyed me, until we scored then i was made up, ruined his night that did  :D

Red card wasn't harsh. It was a yellow card offense and the fella had already been booked therefore he gets sent off. Gray's just biased against us, but most people on the telly and in the papers are.
1) You'll Never Walk Alone
2) pass and move is the Liverpool groove
3) FIRST WILL ALWAYS BE FIRST AND SECOND WILL ALWAYS BE NOTHING.
4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.

Exactly right, there was a moment in the first half where one of our defenders hoofed it clear, it was dropping over Maicons head and he was under pressure, well he should of been. Babel stood still until Maicon brought it down and then sort of closed him down.
He should of been looking to outmuscle him and get beyond him but didnt fancy the challenge.
It was also him that went to sleep when Maicon got in behind Aurellio and Ibrahimovics flick was saved by Reina by switching off, he started to chase back and then just stopped and turned away.
I have been impressed with certain things in his game (shooting and pace) but think he was awful last night.

Agreed on both counts.

I don't think that Babel has the bottle or the brains to be effective. Until he smartens up and grows up, all that raw ability and talent is wasted.

It was a good performance by the lads but this match did highlight one thing to me. When we play 4-2-3-1 or a semblance of it, we need TWO holding midfielders and Lucas, doesn't fit the bill... we missed Xabi in this match. I really rate Lucas and this experience can only be good for him but IMO he's better as a more conventional midfielder in a 4-4-2.

It's staggering, it really is. Boro, Bolton and West Ham...Kuyt and Babel were being raved about. They were finally being doing what was expected, they're dropped for the Newcastle game and come back into the team and take constant stick. I said it about the Newcastle game, neither of them should of been dropped for that match because it takes you out your rythm. It's exactly what happened to both of them.

Or last night they played against one of the best sides in Europe over the last 2 years and came up a little short.

I wouldnt be surprised if Gray is an undercover Liverpool fan. his love for Steven Gerrard is not healthy.

And how do you judge the Babel handball. Surely that should have been a second yellow?

Well Babel has been effective in the last 3 premiership games that he has played. He just had a bad night last night.

Alright yari7 you keep believing that Andy Gray is as fair and balanced towards us, as he is about other teams. Oh and the Earths flat :;):
