“We were considering different options because maybe we have some players that they cannot cope with or manage,” said Benitez.

“We will analyze how the team does in the training session tonight and then we will see. We know that we cannot defend for a long time against a good team so we need to attack and score if that is possible.

“I have a lot of confidence we can go forward so my idea is to prepare properly and to win.” he added.

“I think that we know Torres is on fire and his understanding with Gerrard is good, the team is playing well now so we have confidence and we know that at the end of the day you need to score and Torres can be the key man for us.”

Maybe he's talking about Crouch? They panicked every time the ball went near him at Anfield.

It's really intresting what he might do, he might just go with a 442 considering Alonso's out.

in a 4-4-2, I would consider Riise at LM. I know we can't go there with a defending mentality, but Babel does not really have what we need to help out with defense out wide, and while Riise offers little goal threat, his is a better left footed crosser of the ball than babel, which will be key if we do play Crouch.  If we play Crouch we might be able to get away with hoofing balls up to him and knocking them on to Torres and Gerrard, or the flip side is we might get dependent on it which could be bad

Liverpool favourites to beat Inter and reach quarters
MILAN, March 11 (Reuters) - Liverpool take a 2-0 lead into their Champions League last 16, second leg at Inter Milan on Tuesday looking to become the fourth English team to qualify for this season's quarter-finals.
Holders AC Milan were dumped out by Arsenal at the San Siro last week while Manchester United and Chelsea also won through, with AS Roma the only Italian side so far in the hat.
Defender Marco Materazzi is suspended for Serie A leaders Inter after his dismissal in the first leg but Cristian Chivu looks to have overcome a shoulder injury to replace him.
Liverpool are without injured right back Steve Finnan and Xabi Alonso, whose girlfriend is having a baby, but fellow midfielder Javier Mascherano is fit.
The second leg is taking place a week later than the others because of a clash with the Milan-Arsenal match.

..and Zanetti warns Kop: Sit on lead and you're out
EXCLUSIVE Champions League last 16, second leg Inter Milan v Liverpool, tonight, 7.45
John Cross   11/03/2008

nter Milan star Javier Zanetti last night warned Liverpool will be playing a dangerous game if they try to sit on their lead at the San Siro.

Rafa Benitez's men start as red-hot favourites against Serie A leaders Inter after their two-goal victory at Anfield three weeks ago.

But Argentina international Zanetti, 34, says the Italians can overturn Liverpool's firstleg victory and send Benitez crashing out of the Champions League. Zanetti said: "It will be hard for us but we will not give up until the very last minute because we still believe we can go through.

"I think Liverpool will come to Milan trying to defend and then play on the counter-attack.

"That is a very positive thing for us as it will mean we will have a lot of the ball and it's the best chance for us to beat them.

"We suffered a great deal at Anfield but if we can score the first goal then it will give us a big chance of reaching the quarter-finals.

"We cannot bear to say goodbye to the Champions League at this stage and that would be very sad for all of us.

"Liverpool do not have a superior team to us. The score in the first leg was not a fair reflection of the game.

"But each match is different, we will put them under great pressure and make it one of the great European nights in the San Siro."

Inter's Brazilian keeper Julio Cesar has also taunted Liverpool by insisting they will still get through.

Cesar said: "The game at Anfield was a deception because we did not deserve to lose 2-0. Their defence won't cause us to lose sleep.

"The San Siro atmosphere will be spectacular and we are confident we can overcome them."

INTERMEN TOWATCH

Zlatan Ibrahimovic (left) The world's highest-paid player is capable of flummoxing his opponents with his outlandish skills but frustrating Inter fans with his brittle mindset. Did not do much at Anfield but 20 goals in 28 appearances this term show Ibrahimovic, 26, is a world-class performer.

Dejan Stankovic (centre) The former Red Star Belgrade and Lazio midfield player is a key man in the Inter engine room, able to shield the defence or link play further up the field. His snappy passes and clever movement set the tone.

Nicolas Burdisso (right) With Marco Materazzi suspended after his red card in the first leg and Ivan Cordoba injured, Burdisso is set to fill in at centre-back. The strong utility defender has rarely been considered more than a squad player since joining from Boca Juniors in 2004

We need to be cautious. Not be overly ambitious but rather keeping the defence tight and counter-attacking, because they MUST score, however we don't.

I think if we nick one goal, it's over.

Looking forward to this one, its giving me sweaty palms right now thinking about it, no doubt it wil be a nail biter.

Like most Carra and Hyypia should start at the back for me, with Arbeloa on the right selected and Riise left.

I hope we dont conceed too much possesion to them and sit back, we could kill this tie off early, and with players like Torres and Gerrard in form we should play to our strengths.

Crouch would have a 7 and a half inch height advantage over Burdisso.  Even though 4-2-3-1 has been the formation of late, 4-4-2 might be the way to go to make sure we don't worry about defending too much and isolate Torres

Mistyred I would love to see us win 3-1 but cant see that happening.

I hope he doesnt play really neagative or i could see us going out. A good start will be needed like when we played them at home going after them straight away. Got to play 4-2-3-1, has worked so well recently. Lucas Mascherano the holding two and Babel on the left, Gerrard in the centre and Kuyt on the right.

Can see it being 1-1 tonight and hopefully Gerrard scoring to keep his Champions League run going.

Inter only have to look at the 2005 final to see how to approach the game - they have nothing to lose so throw everything at us and try to overwhelm the Reds.

Then it becomes a matter of how well our midfield and defence can hold it together.

Could be like the Battle of the Somme.
