Four good teams (AC, Inter, Juve, Roma) and all the others are :censored:.

There are FOUR good teams in the prem?

Well, OK

Three good ones and one sorta good.

If you compare the "big four" in England with the top four in Italy, in terms of how often they get beat :-

2007/8

Premiership - 2 home defeats, 9 away defeats
Serie A - 6 home defeats, 7 away defeats

After our midweek game it could be top four vs top four, I'm a tad surprised these Italians lose at home so often - especially given our defeat was inflicted by the mancs and their's by rivals.

I won't read anything into the Napoli win, league form counts for little as it did first leg. Interesting comment by Poll on refs, might be why the mancs don't win the Champions League often since they have less help from the refs

Liverpool showdown unsettled Inter, says club president

Inter's Champions League decider with Liverpool next week may have distracted them from the domestic job in hand, club president and major pr!ck Massimo Moratti said on Monday.

The Serie A leaders have not won in three matches since they lost the first leg of the last-16 tie 2-0 at Anfield on Feb. 19 and they surrendered their unbeaten league record at Napoli on Sunday, going down 1-0.

"Everyone would say no, but perhaps a little bit it did, because the game with Liverpool is seen as a very important engagement," Moratti told reporters when asked if Inter had their minds on Liverpool at Napoli.

"Perhaps the game was approached with different determination. We have to recover the right degree of tension, which we showed in the previous games."

Moratti said, however, that Sunday's defeat, which allowed second-placed AS Roma to narrow Inter's lead to six points by thrashing Parma 4-0 on Saturday, should not be blown out of proportion.

"This defeat is quite normal," he said. "After an unbeaten year, I wouldn't make a drama out of it."

On Monday, Italy's top bookmaker resumed taking bets on the title race having stopped giving odds on the championship two weeks ago when Inter went 11 points clear.

The return leg is not being played until next week because AC Milan are at home against Arsenal at San Siro this week.

The fitness of Cristian Chivu is a concern for Inter, after the Romania defender came off with a shoulder problem at the start the second half on Sunday.

The Italian champions are already stretched at the back as Walter Samuel and Ivan Cordoba are out for the rest of the season with knee injuries, Maxwell has an ankle problem and Marco Materazzi is suspended next week after being sent off at Liverpool.

"Let's hope Chivu can make it, at least for the match with Liverpool (if not against Reggina on Saturday)," Moratti said. Strikers Julio Cruz and Zlatan Ibrahimovic and midfielders Cesar, Esteban Cambiasso and Dejan Stankovic are also battling to overcome fitness problems.

Internazionale defender Christian Chivu is an injury doubt for his side's UEFA Champions League second-leg clash with Liverpool.

The Serie A champions go into the second-leg of their last 16 meeting against the Reds at the Giuseppe Meazza on 11th March hoping to overturn a two goal deficit following a first-leg defeat at Anfield.

However, coach Roberto Mancini already has a number of defensive selection problems as Marco Materazzi will be suspended after being sent off on Merseyside, while Walter Samuel is a long-term injury absentee.

Ivan Cordoba is also expected to be out for the rest of the season after sustaining knee ligament damage in the first-leg.

And the news that Romanian international Chivu could miss out after dislocating his shoulder in the 1-0 defeat to Napoli on Sunday has come as a serious blow to Mancini.

"I hope it won't be a grave thing," Mancini told the Italian media. "If it is, it will be a major problem."

Chivu's Liverpool choice
Tuesday 4 March, 2008

Cristian Chivu could still play against Liverpool with heavy strapping to his shoulder, but an operation is a real possibility for the Inter man.

The Romanian fell awkwardly and popped his left shoulder out of joint during the 1-0 defeat to Napoli on Sunday evening.

This is not the first time he has suffered from shoulder problems and he could decide to go ahead and face the Reds on March 11 with the aid of special strapping.

Inter need Chivu to recover, as they must overturn the 2-0 first leg defeat with a decimated defence and midfield.

Walter Samuel, Ivan Cordoba and Olivier Dacourt are out for the rest of the season, while Cesar Aparecido and Maxwell are injury doubts.

On top of the packed treatment room, Marco Materazzi is suspended following his dismissal at Anfield, so choices in defence are limited.

Yet it is a risk Chivu might not be willing to take, as this is a recurring shoulder issue and damaging it further could force surgery.

If he does go under the knife, it would take two months to recover and the Romanian captain would risk missing out on Euro 2008

I doubt Chivu would take the risk as he would want to play in Euro

2nd leg, I see a draw on the cards. 1-1 or 2-2. I'll go with 2-2. Torres and Kuyt for Liverpool.

it will be 0-2, 0-3. we have no defence (out samuel, corboba, luckily materazzi, maxwell and chivu) and maicon is in bad shape
midfield is in very bad physical conditions (stankovic, cambiasso, vieirà)
second lines are out (dacourt, cesar)
jimenez is coming back from injuries.
ibra and cruz are coming back from injuries.
no hope for us.

Im not going to say we qualified yet, Inter can surprise anyone, they have done that before so we shouldn't get complacent.

0-0 draw would be good enough

of course anything could happen and inter will do its best but it is nearly impossible that lfc will not score one single goal if inter will push hard without a seriuos defence. and rafa knows that ...
