No mate , its not a case of having to win the league ,just showing us we were making progress every year would be enough to satisfy most people.
I don't really agree with these sort of threads, it would be better for everyone if people could wait until the end of the season really.
I would go for Mourinho. He is available, has show he can motivate players and get good results with money and without. Has a good record both in Europe and domestically. I f he has a problem its that he motivates his teams so well for the bread and butter competitions that they can't raise their game by much for the important one off games. As I am more interested in winning the league however that shouldn't be too much of a problem.
He get the best out of his players (something Rafa struggles with), and while his style of football may not be as attractive as the mancs or Arsenals, neither is what we are being served up every week at the moment.
Apart from being a good motivator, he takes the pressure off players and like Shankly believes his team is the best no matter who they are playing.
Unfortunately I don't think he is very astute in the transfer market, but maybe he was at Porto? Certainly he always seemed to be happy paying well over the odds while at Chelsea.
Proven track record in two countries.
Gets the best out of players
Creates a team rather than 11 talented individuals
Has a big enough profile to keep our players happy and at the club, while still attracting players to the club.
Probably still has something to prove in England and so wont be resting on his laurels and past achievements.
Seems to achieve success quickly and more importantly maintain it at least in the short term.
Seems to have the ability to learn from his mistakes rather than stubbornly refusing to change.
If we want the best available it has to be Mourinho, who has won every domestic competition in England and managed to win the CL with Porto.
People argue that we shouldn't sign him because he's a bit of a kunt.......so is Gerrard going by some of the comments on here, that doesn't stop him from being one of the best players in the country though.
