Who were great buys for lfc - Who are to replace them

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby begintoend » Tue Jun 01, 2004 8:30 am

Jari Litmanen was a fantastic purchase.
He is what Bergkamp is to Arsenal.
The brains of midfield is sorely missed. We can passed around for ages and not have a decent attempt at goal.

Replacing him as a purchase will be Aimar or Ronaldinho.
Though the latter seems impossible. Having an important import is vital as acts as the catalyst to gel the team quickly.

The rest...........

By great buys are you talking about the cost/impact or simply impact on the team.

Sami hyypia was a snip, and has been a colossus.

Harry Kewell will prove good business @ £5m.

Gary Mcallister- free transfer - outstanding transfer.

all purchased by Gh as well here guys....

Also, having Gary in the team helped Stevie G become an even better player. He helped him along no end.

too true and i think if it where not for the problems with his wife he would have turned coventry back around.:D

my best buys are litmanen fantastic should stillbe at the club.

Gary Mac for all of the above.and similarly should have been allowed to move into the coaching set up with us and still played and he could have done wonders with the youner players coming through.

Sammi and steffan as together thay have been one of the best central defensive pairings in the prem for a long while just injuries that have ment they have not played together a much as needed.:D

McAllister, Babbel and Hyypia were the best.

I think had Babbel not fallen ill we'd have been in much better shape. He was one of... if not our best player in that treble season.

Hamann, Hyypia, Owen and Babbel were our top class players that season and to lose one of those to illness, in my opinion set us back at least 1 year.

Babbel was fairly good.

Its so bad it seems that we dun have replacements if any falls ill. Gosh! If it sets us back for 1 year, thats very sick...

Riise was a great buy i think. Also kewell and baros, pongolle and le tallec. I still think finnan will pan out so thats good
Also jamie redknapp, when we got him, he was a class buy
Litmanen would have been if we had ever played him and obviously gary mac was a great buy
Rioedle didnt do too bad when he was here either

Litmanen was a smashing player but what people should realise is that he couldn't get a game for Barcelona before joining us and hardly played for Ajax after leaving us due to injury.  Also, Houllier got slated for selling Fowler but his career also nose dived after leaving us.  Maybe Houllier had his reasons for leaving both out of the side so often.
