Mourinho tops Kop list

RAFA BENITEZ will be sacked following his latest tirade against Liverpool owner Tom Hicks.
And former Kop hate-figure Jose Mourinho is the shock front runner to replace him.
Liverpool's American owners were already preparing to ditch the Spanish boss (left) after tiring of the constant behind-the-scenes bickering but this week's developments have sealed his fate.
It's now a matter of when not if the Spanish boss leaves Anfield and that's expected to be sooner rather than later.
Despite his epic Anfield bust-ups while at Stamford Bridge, Mourinho tops a wanted list already being assembled by the owners.
An approach will be made once Benitez's departure is confirmed.
The Portuguese boss may have his enemies on Merseyside, but he's recognised as one of the best and most sought after coaches in Europe.
Benitez showed no sign of ducking a fight with his hierarchy following yesterday's 3-0 win over Newcastle, despite knowing his job was on the line.
"It's clear Mr Hicks wants the best for the club. So do I," he said.
"We have been here for a long time and we know what the passion of football means and what the transfer market in Europe means.
"It's not a draft system. We have free players available now. I'm not talking about players that cost money.
"We need to talk to the agents now, if not we will lose targets. In the summer, the players will be more expensive. I have not been talking about spending but doing the opposite. We have brought money back. We brought in £26m this year and you can see the value of the squad.
"We had a meeting on the day of the Arsenal game which was really positive. After this, something changed."
They told me to be focused on coaching and training because Rick Parry will be looking after signing players."
Swing
Benitez won't walk away, adding: "I have passion for this club. The fans who were with me in Istanbul know what it means to me."
With no resignation on the horizon, Hicks (left) and Gillett are now ready to swing their axe regardless of Liverpool's league placing or Champions League progress

if a player was to complain in the papers about rafas methods he would be dropped and drummed out of the club. rafa needs to take a leaf out of his own book, also again i will say the owners have said they will talk in december so i dont see what the problem is
The problem is he wants to wrap up deals now, which he cant do if he doesnt know if he has enough money, and if he finds we have a low budget he can start working out selling deals (like carson) now, rather than rushing the sale so he can buy the player he wants, making him lose out in the long term.
and if your boss fires you, its wont affect his business (much). If they sack rafa, there is nothing but problems (team in shock, new playing style to learn, finding a good replacement), look what happened at chelsea, players saying they would follow jose.

The thing is pee, if someone came to you as your new boss and who has no experience in the job you do ,and then told you to shut up and do as your told , you i'm sure would have something to say. It's a ridiculouse situation the yanks are putting rafa in.

a small part of me wants him to go mate, its his stubborness that worries me, it was the same with houllier and that was his downfall, a large part of me wants him to stay and bring the league home but i am worried that he still doesnt realise what it takes to win the league here and his refusal to change his methods makes me think he will never bring it back.
i know many people when they argue this point say they want him to stay and justify their argument with "who would we replace him with", to me this is the wrong attitude, there are plenty of managers who could replace him and maybe bring success, and maybe they will flat on their faces. i don't have a crystal ball murph but i can see whats happening at the club now.
i think rafa is stupid taking the owners on in this way, there will only be one winner and possibly many losers, if he had delivered us a title and we were in a stronger position in the CL then i feel he could question them and they would be compelled to listen, these guys are no mugs in the business world and i am sure they are learning the football world, but whichever world they are dealing in such a display of pettulance by an employee is uncalled for and i am certain in any other industry he would be on his way out of the door now, its all well and good questioning the owners but to do it in such a public and immature fashion has not helped rafa one bit.
what comes first for me is LFC, not rafa benitez, not G + H, i want the club to get back to where it was, if thats without rafa then so be it, if its with rafa then so be it, but he needs to learn a few lessons in my opinion.
personally i feel he is looking for a way out of the club with his big pay off, i think he knows for him to win the league he will have to go back on his philosophy and lose face. he is trying to force the owners hand in my opinion and make them out to be the bad guys when they fire him while hoping people forget his discussions with real madrid and bayern munich.
just my opinion mate, it may be wide of the mark, it may not be wide of the mark. i get the impression the club is not a happy place, rafa has already put us in jeapordy for a silly reason with forcing pako out because he was pally with jose, and rafa has also put us in a strange position with his refusal to change a system that does not work.
in my opinion rafa thinks he is bigger than the club however many soundbites he gives about the club and the fans etc, thats all PR in my opinion
