I reckon a good result on Wednesday could well be the catalyst for a move for a new striker.

I've just seen that Kuyt was on the scoresheet during Feyenoord's 2-0 win against Middlesboro today.

Wonder if any footage from that game will turn up on youtube and the like - sounds like both teams had good strength sides out, and I'd be interested to see how he fared with their defence, which has been pretty well drilled in recent years.

I am still not sure I fancy him myself, although I have not seen too much.

I agree, it was a simlar situtation in the last 2 seasons with the Alonso/Garcia deals and then with Simao, Im guessing that the club havent budgeted into the transfer kitty that 10Mil or so that we would get from being in the Champions League, but a good result on Wednesday would give Rafa the green light to spend it.

I thought the figure was closer to £20m for the group stages, but I think it will have been budgeted for in some way, but qualification guaranteed (more or less) with a chomprehensive 3 or 4 nil win will mean that rafa will be allowed more of the purse.

Crespo moves to intermilan on a free transfer !
Now that Chelsea have Drogba, Shevchenko and C.Cole only... i think they will be goin after kuyt if we fail to sign him in the next coupla days !
Trezeguet is another player we'v been linked to... so was Luca Toni !
Toni would probably cost around 18mill.... trezeguet could be allowed a loan move or even a trasfer at around 15mill ! Both would be better prospects for liverpool than kuyt is, but at 30 Toni is looking less likely to get a bid worth so much!

I read somewhere that Kuit has turned down a bid from Middlesbro in the hope that we will sign him.

Found it on Kr*p talk

Liverpool target Dirk Kuyt has reportedly rejected the chance to leave Feyenoord for Middlesbrough.

The Dutch international striker scored against Boro yesterday as Feyenoord secured a 2-0 pre-season friendly victory.

It is claimed that Boro sounded the player out about a move and according to British newspaper reports, Kuyt turned them down as he's hoping to secure a move to Anfield.

Newcastle, Chelsea and Manchester United continue to be linked.

I wish they would sign him, so we can sign Yakubu.
