Rafa mentioned that he had 5 or 6 players under consideration ! i just hope martins isnt one of them !
Trezeguet, if we could sign him would make the biggest impact imo, definitely a 20+goals/season striker . Kuyt, i dont rate him much but he has what it takes to score 20+ a season for us. Martins wouldnt net 10 if you ask me + we have pace in bellamy and i wouldnt fancy us pairing bellamy and martins EVER . both short, fast, cant hold up ball, and lose aerial battles to any opposition !
So.... Trezeguet said he'd discuss his future with Juventus tomorrow... if he decides to leave, and liverpool make a good bid, we can get him before ManUtd or Lyon do ! Kuyt made it clear he'd rather join Lierpool than he would ManUtd, Newcastle or Charlton, so if we can match their asking price, shouldnt be much negotiating from there !
trezeguet has scored plenty of goals over a long period of time in the italian league so he must be half decent but every time i`ve seen him i`ve never been that impressed to be honest.
he looks very ordinary for france and i cant remember the last time juventus as a team or trezeguet has impressed me in the champions league.
i havent seen enough of martins to really have a opinion but he does remind me a bit of stu daly who used to play for villa.
the diouf, morientes and cisse saga`s have left me very wary of foreign strikers with big reputations.
as probably the best striker we`ve ever had ian rush proved, just because you are exceptional in one league doesnt mean you will adapt to another. its definately horses for courses in the prem and thats why i like the signing of bellamy.
i see what you mean but... Kuyt is coming from a foreign league too, aparently everyone we'r linked to is !
Thing with Trezeguet is, he isnt one to impress you with his technical abilities or his wonder goals ; he's just one who can net a ball given half a decent chance ! i dont enjoy watching him play either but you have to give it to him ! he can score and score and score and score ! its just fascinating how he can score so many goals in the italian league and still not be seen by many as a player who would add much to a side with a goalscoring problem ! If he cant play sh!t but will score 25goals for us next season ! i say bring him ! if it means we pay 15 mill.. so be it ! atleast we know we'r getting quality !
+ in the world cup he was a substitute all along... how could you rate him based on that ! and he's scored bundles for Juve in the last 4 or 5 years....in the ChampionsLeague too !
i`m not basing my opinion of trezeguets form for france on the recent world cup mate, i`ve watched him for years and all he seems to do is miss sitters. he reminds me of a gallic andy cole, and like cole he should be praised for getting into goalscoring positions (an art in itself) but his conversion rate of chances is poor from what i`ve seen of him.
rafa seemed very interested in him a few weeks back so he must be decent, maybe i just catch his off days.
we probably are a striker light and whoever we bring in i will back to the hilt but after morientes (who i thought would be a massive success at anfield) i`ve lost confidence in foreign strikers. i dont even think schevchenko will do that well.
His convertion rate is poor ? probably the most prolific striker i have ever seen ! and you say his convertion rate is poor ?!
His record speaks for itself ! yea... probably that you catch him in his off days (not many he has but..yea makes more sense )! shevchenko is one of the best footballers in the world today, chances are he'll make it ... hope he doesnt do well !
TREZEGUET RECORD:
2001/2002: 37 starts (33 goals)
2002/2003: 28 starts (16 goals)
2003/2004: 35 starts (28 goals)
2004/2005: 23 starts (14 goals)
2005/2006: 38 starts (30 goals)

Crouch has become casual I wonder if the wage packets and new girlfriend is going to his head and he's more interested in late night clubs rather than our success. He should be concentrating on improving the quality and power of his headers because tbh if crouch was 5 foot 10 he wouldn't be playing for Liverpool or England.

Portsmouth have just had a 15m bid for Yakubu turned down so we'd have to go higher than that to land him. Considering we couldn't offer a couple more million for Alves i doubt we've got 5m+ to add to the 10m we have aside for Kuyt!!
