Yeah sorry about the double post, I'd like to see Ashton or Yakubu sign this summer and then the other signing next summer. Could you imagine a strike force of Ashton, Yakubu, Bellamy and Crouch with Fowler on the side? Well I can dream I guess.  :D

and if you take out yakubu (which i dont want to coz he's a bit good) - but that would leave with 4 british strikers!

Kuyt negotiations begin

Liverpool have reportedly opened negotiations with Feyenoord for striker Dirk Kuyt.

It appears Reds boss Rafael Benitez's search for a new forward has come to an end, with Liverpool prepared to pay the £10million asking price for the Dutch international.

With several fringe players set to leave Anfield, Benitez will use the funds to land the coveted 24-year-old, who is also wanted by Newcastle United.
Kuyt has indicated his preference is to move to Anfield, and is hoping to finalise a move this week.

£10million is a huge, huge gamble, I just hope it pays off. I've not seen enough of Kuyt to comment, but hopefully he'll be the player to score us the goals we need.

Rafa Benitez was non-committal on reports that Liverpool are back in for Feyenoord striker Dirk Kuyt.

The Holland international has been heavily linked with a move to The Premiership, with Newcastle United watching him in action.

Reports have also claimed that FA Cup holders Liverpool are readying a £10 million bid for the prolific hit-man.

But while Reds boss Benitez is aware of the speculation, he refused to confirm if he had put in an offer for Kuyt.

"We have had some names, he is one of the names in the newspapers," Benitez told Sky Sports News.

"There is a lot of them. I was talking to two or three people, offering me five or six players, it's very, very common now."

Benitez has revealed he wants to sign a striker before the close of the transfer window and is happy to be patient in his quest for fresh faces.

He added: "We continue working and sometimes you finish signing players on the last day or the last minute.

"In this case we have time to continue working, trying to improve the squad."

Now that Chelsea have Drogba, Shevchenko and C.Cole only... i think they will be goin after kuyt if we fail to sign him in the next coupla days !
Trezeguet is another player we'v been linked to... so was Luca Toni !
Toni would probably cost around 18mill.... trezeguet could be allowed a loan move or even a trasfer at around 15mill ! Both would be better prospects for liverpool than kuyt is, but at 30 Toni is looking less likely to get a bid worth so much!

Chelsea do not have Carlton Cole anymore, he is at West Ham on loan I think.

I wander if Chelsea will try and sign another striker!

Footage of Dirk Kuyt

Some of those goals are pretty impressive, goals in the nature that Peter Crouch could never score!

I was waiting with deep anticipation when you'd have a sly dig at Crouch. They are two different players, who both have different roles and styles of play.

And how many good performances has GOD had in an england shirt?
Still was/is a fantastic player for us.

How :censored: was Owen for us in the prem 85 mins per game.
I could show you a hole dvd of dodgy highlights
He still bagged a few goals.

Me, i trust rafas judgement...

Of course you may be right and its rafa, roeder, jol and jose who are wrong

As for Ashton, i doubt west ham would let him go for 10m.
Besides, he is hardly prolific...and relatively unproven in prem

this will be a verry important signing for us if it comes off...but i really dont know how close we are at the moment...the fact that rafa gives nothing away doesn,t make it easy for us, to get kuyt would really give us some great options up front...his goal celebration antics is just the kind of hunger we need at liverpool...after missing out on simao and alves this would be third time lucky and a great addition to the club  :;):

I doubt it, not with Drogba, Shevchenko and that other lad from Feyenoord. Kuyt would be mad to go there, he could just end up being an expensive sub.

I wish this deal would hurry the :censored: up already....it draggin on and on.
