i am with AB in this one (one of the rare moments)....

Don't under-estimate the scums....as much as i hate them...they are our bogey team.

just look at the previous matches against them (apart from the 5 match winning spell we had). We always dominate the whole match (even in old thrashford)...but lose to a suker punch........

I would like to see Cisse start this game. Since his injury we haven't seen what his impact is on a 'big' game yet, aside from a few sub appearances.

I'd like to see:

                           Reina

Finnan      Carragher      Hyypia      Warnock

                           Sissoko

          Gerrard                          Alonso
                            Garcia

                 Cisse                 Crouch

Performing well in a game like this could turn Cisse's season round

Good post John all round but I've just quoted this bit for a reason.

How about this for typical Benitez unpredictability .........

Play Hamann and Alonso and Sissoko in the middle and Gerrard has a free role similar to the one he had against Arsenal last season. So it would look like this .....

                                   Reina

        Finnon         Carra         Hyppia           Warnock

                        Sissoko          Hamann

            Gerrard                 Alonso                    Riise

                                   Cisse

You never know Dalglish, I certainly wouldn't be surprised if Rafa tried something like that.  The thing is though, even if it's Alonso and Sissoko playing with Gerrard, Gerrard still has almost a free role anyway, he is pretty much the second striker in that system and could roam all over the place.

Playing Alonso, Sissoko, Hamann and Gerrard with Gerrard on the right and Sissoko slightly ahead of Alonso and Hamann is something I could maybe see working, but it is fairly experimental for such a big game.

See how confused we're all getting over this, Fergie must be having a nightmare :D

order! ORDER!

Could I call on the right honourable members to stand for a minutes silence to mark the latest tragedy to befall Everton FC-

To fall at the first in one cup is embarrasing but to fall at the first in the consolation cup is fkn hillerious

Anyone else feeling childish this morning?

I've just checked the odds and Liverpool and Man Utd are level, both being at 13/8 (mid-day Friday, with a draw at 15/8) and surely we have to take this game to them in these circumstances. We're looking pretty solid, we're developing a good attack and they're going to be with out several big players. And it's at Anfield. If we do them on Sunday, it will be a huge leap forward.

I saw 7/4 Lp - 5/4 MU that was with willhill

£40 on us would not go amiss- pay for the chelsea games

Would love to see this team personally:

                 Reina

Finnan  Hyypia  Carragher  Warnock

          Alonso   Sissoko

Gerrard      Garcia        Riise

               Crouch

Or

                 Reina

Finnan  Hyypia  Carragher  Warnock

          Alonso    Sissoko

Pongolle      Gerrard        Riise

                 Crouch

I’m guessing Man Utd will go for this:

                 Van Der Sar

O'Shea  Ferdinand  Silvestre  Richardson

          Scholes Smith  Fletcher
Ronaldo                                Rooney
                 Van Nistelrooy

Since we are at home we should be reasonably attacking and try to be dominant, but Man Utd will be set out to hit us on the counter attack through Rooney and Ronaldo, this is were Sissoko, and if selected Riise, will be key. It is important that Riise and Garcia don’t give the ball away cheaply in no pressure situations, because this is where Man Utd will hurt us the most.

I think it may be wise to leave Gerrard in the centre just off the striker, because I wouldn’t count on Garcia helping out Alonso and Sissoko against Smith, Fletcher and Scholes, were as Gerrard will. Also it would mean that we could go with Pongolle on the right, but it would mean leaving Garcia on the bench.

P.S. Fergie may surprise everyone by putting O'Shea at left back, and playing young Bardsley at right back.

We need TWO strikers in the front, if we really want to win this match. Cisse and Crouch, finish them off. :blues:
