You miss the point Reg .

I have seen that you seem to post about finances on a lot of posts at the moment

Thank god we didnt spend 30 mil on Ferdinand only for him to be injured a lot

Your initial post is rubbish

Shall we stop paying players when they are injured ?

Gerrard has been injured for two seasons now - shall we stop paying him .

Only one issue is important whether it be on the field performance on a weekly basis or the number of times a player plays or is available to play due to injury - value for money.

Agger over the years has been appalling value for money.

If we're complaining about the kind of money we're paying agger, then we might as well no compete for the CL spots and be content with 5th 6th finish. Let's face it, in today's game you need to compete financially as well. Look at arsenal and what have they won? Would players like Silva and Aguero go to man city if they weren't offered lucrative contracts? Would judas have joined Chelsea if he wasn't offered a significant pay raise? Agger's wages are nothing compared to some of the defenders earning at the mancs, city and Chelsea. Yes he is injured alot but this season, touch wood he's been healthy. His talent is worth keeping him as well and he's also expressed loyalty to the club openly. I'm not complaining...

Its not a question of whether we can afford it, but whether we're spending it wisely.

I understand where Reg is coming from and agree from a financial perspective that Agger hasn't been "value for money". I'd also say from a footballing perspective he hasn't been a 'valuable player' too, only because of his injuries. There is no doubt that had Agger been less frequent to injuries he'd have been both valuable in terms of money and more valuable in terms of football. This season, he's fared better on the injury front, thus making him a valuable player - when he plays.

It's the same with Aurelio - he just picks up a pay cheque every week, for being largely on the physio's table.

Most well off people I know are as tight as a virgins bum hole, hence the reason their rich. I can't imagine John Henry & co having a nonchalant attitude towards their money and the value they're getting for it - otherwise they wouldn't be good business men would they.

EDIT: A player who's injured can still be valuable in the grander scheme of things, like Lucas for example. But on a micro level and within the instant of being injured he can't be valuable to the team because he can't play!

Agger is a class act. An intelligent central defender who would walk into pretty much any team in Europe. You could see him in that Barca backline.. passing it out of defence with ease. If we had an equivalent standard of player to Agger throughout the team we would be knocking the door on being champions. The injuries have been the obvious drawback.. though i think hes was mistreated by Woy and didnt appear to have a problem. Danny is a quality player who deserves to be very successful, and hes as loyal as you can get. For me hes our next captain.

Agree. Every time I see him play he is a stand out. Cool, calm and collected. A great communicator as well. I think he has played a major part in Skrtel's improvment this season. The 2 of them are forming a formidable partnership at CB.

any news on how long will he be out?

honestly speaking, I don't want to see the Carra-Skrtel partnership again. Skrtel has come a long way... I think that he is scared stiff playing with Carra... that's why there was so many mistakes...

with all due respect to Carra, Kenny should play Coates and Skrtel...

I don't think Coates is up to much. He's not impressed me in the games I've seen him..

Broken ribs can be annoying as hell. You can feel good after a month but should probably rest twice as long otherwise you will just tear it up again. I would say 1,5 month minimum.

If we lose Agger for a long time it's pretty terrible news...Carra at this stage is a total mess and i suspect it will drag Skertle back as well.

Hope he returns soon.
